Just out of sheer curiosity...

...if Rush, for whatever reason, doesn't make it back to radio, who would/could/should fill those BIG shoes?

I would imagine logistically...and contractually...Beck and Savage can't. We much as I like Dennis Miller the comedian, Dennis Miller the radio host isn't up to par. So who could be a likely replacement?

That being said, I'd like state that I wish Rush a quick recovery. Heart attack type symptoms are a bitch!

I'm completely with you, R&R. I think Rush is going to be just fine, though. I really like Glenn Beck. I like Dennis Miller...but...listening to 3 hours of his silly $h!t would drive me batty. And...Michael Savage is a stark raving lunatic (really)!

If, God forbid, Rush cannot return to radio, I think that Bill Bennett would not be a bad pick. While not as bombastic as Rush, their views are right in synch.

I don't think there is anybody out there who can match Rush for sheer fire power and entertainment.

His take no prisoners tirades against libs and liberal politics are so intense and well aimed that most libs, and a few conservatives can't tell when he's only kidding and poking fun at himself.

He tries to hide his self deprecating humor behind some bombastic nonsense, but long time listeners can tell when he's joking, and when he's dead serious.

In my opinion, nobody else out there on the radio horizon can match him. He's the most listened-to person on the radio today because he talks straight to people about things that matter and he's not afraid to call it the way he sees it. I pray for his quick recovery and return to doing what he does better than anybody. Conservatism will lose its most powerful voice when he's gone. (shudder)

Glen Beck isn't even on my long list of possible substitutes. Beck drives me crazy with his self-absorbed "the sky is falling the end is near" rants. I stopped watching and listening to him a very long time ago.

I may be nuts, but I'd vote for John Gibson.

The problem for Rush is the same as faced with replacing the Paul Harvey franchise. While I would have picked Paul Jr. to take over, he (and apparently ABC) had no interest in this happening, so the franchise died with him. There are several people who could replace Rush on a vacation relief basis, but I don't know that long term viability could be sustained.

I thought the same thing this AM. EIB would simply cease to be. Most likely, it would have to be rebranded with someone else in the drivers seat. New name. New host. New everything.

rr.

I guess that we don't have to worry about that, since he was released from the hospital. He will be calling in to his show for updates.
