On the format flip WNOU-FM made today.

WOW...I am STUNNED AND SHOCKED....

I thought this would never happened....but it did.

I would call it a smart move with news-talk one of the most popular formats now. Since Jeff made the move, you will see others doing that in the future. Agency business is not real big on news-talk right now but local direct is still very strong in the AM market. I wish them well and hope it cumes up for them. I like to see radio make the bold moves and get stronger.

Will a station (WNOU) being # 4 18-49 adults, get out billed by ESPN 1070? even if you can move
the WIBC billing over to FM at 93.1. The other concern is the results of our Cumulus FM talkers in both
Cinci and Indy. If we look at Market #1, see what Dan Mason has done to Free Fm. Why didn't he move 1010 WINS or WCBS am to the fm side in NYC, Remember WENS's last days as a personality Hot AC, could WIBC - FM be headed for the same future or demise? This will be a move of genius or a move that will kill
2 brands, WNOU & WIBC. One year from now we'll have an idea if it was worth the sacrifice.

Big shakeups and format changes are in the future for Indianapolis radio. Someone will move in
to take the lost WNOU listeners. After all a 5 isn't that bad.

Other stations will now see their struggling formats as doomed and will change to survive.

95.5, 94.7, and 105.7 will stay the same. Can't predict this for anyone else!!!!!!

That's what you'd think, but remember Gold 104.5? Many advertisers are as predjudiced against a younger audience as they are for an older audience. That means they won't buy you no matter what. The WNOU issue is one of money, and taking the WIBC brand to the FM to attract more listeners.

I forgot about Radio One in the equation. It makes sense for them to pick up the Radio Now banner because they should definitely make more money with top 40 as opposed to the jazz format. I just couldn't see one of the bigger boys picking it up. What a great move!
