Just Waiting....for KIOL

Mike O, is Pam Kelly still splitting shifts with Lisa K. at KIOL?

I swear I've been hearing her on the Cox (Point, K-Hits) outlets recently delivering the traffic!

Purpledevil, Pam Kelly was on Wednesday and Friday 7pm to 11pm, Saturday 3pm-7pm and Sunday 2pm-6pm. Lisa Kendall had Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 3pm to 11pm, Saturday 10am to 3pm and Sunday 10am to 2pm. The Grease Munkey Saturday 7pm to midnight.

Now that you mention it, I don't remember hearing Pam at night lately. Lisa may be doing the night shift fulltime. I will try and remember to listen Friday and see if Pam or Lisa does the shift. If Pam left KIOL I wonder who, if anyone is doing the weekend shifts.

I don't know why KIOL doesn't have the Grease Munkey doing the overnight shift? He is a good DJ and would fill in the overnight night shift well. It would be nice to hear a live voice overnight instead of a jukebox.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Are you thinking of Kelly Ryan?

No, it's definitely not Kelly Ryan. I know that she is still covering airshifts at The Point from time to time. I checked the website, and Pam's picture is still there. Mike, I'll be listening with you tomorrow, I've got to make sure I'm not crazy. If it's not KIOL's Pam Kelly, it sure sounds like her. Would make sense to have a new person delivering the traffic, considering that Susie is now co-hosting AM drive with Scott Sparks on KLDE, and maybe she is just moonlighting for Cox for the extra $. Listening to KIOL currently and Lisa K. is on the air.

That was, in fact, Pam Kelly you heard on the Cox stations. Pam replaced Susie Loucks. Ron decided he liked Susie so much, he hired her away from us and made her Scott's partner for the new morning show on K-HITS.

Pam started training about 2 weeks ago. Then, about a week ago or so, she started flying on her own. Pam, like Susie did, does morning news and traffic on KHPT, morning news on KKBQ, and traffic in the PM on both KHPT and KTHT. She, as did Susie, does all that from the Cox studios.

Mike Mollett does KTHT news and morning traffic as well as KLDE news from the Cox studios. Steve Rubin does KLDE morning and afternoon traffic from the Cox studios. Our newest addition, Roger Greer, does KKBQ AM and PM traffic from our studios. Roger replaced John Kaye on the air so John could dedicate more time to his administrative duties here at Traffic.com.

Caryn Fulda does AM news and traffic from our studios and Karen Christie does PM news and traffic from our studios for KXYZ (Houston) and KMNY (Dallas), both of which are part of the BizRadio Network.

Not to change the subject, but Roger Greer is a good choice for KKBQ. He was once one of our staff at Metro.. Then again so was Susie... and just about everyone come to think of it.

I haven't actually discussed it yet with Roger yet...but if he is like Susie (and a number of others), he would be absolutely ecstatic to NOT be working for Metro.

Lisa Kendall on the air at KIOL tonight (Friday), so Lisa must have the night shift all week now. I wonder if Pam Kelly will still be on weekends or the station will run without any Air Talent or if someone new will replace Pam?

I would like to think that KIOL will have a live body on the air in Pam Kelly's time slot weekends and not run a jukebox, but I don't have high hopes.

I have yet to hear Lisa call the night show "The Lisa Kendall Show", but I imagine that she is permanent in the 7pm to 11pm shift. I don't see Cumulus hiring someone to replace Lisa. She does a very good job and actually stays on the air until 11pm, unlike her predecessor who was rarely on the air past 10pm. Interestingly the web site has this this shift runnning from 7pm to midnight.

Yep, heard it too Mike. I'm glad to know I haven't lost my mind! Great to hear that Pam is expanding herself, and adding traffic and news reporting to her many line of talents. But good God almighty. They are dropping fast from the Titanic, aren't they? Terry Michaels, Locke Siebenhausen, and now Pam Kelly? Trying to not get sucked down by the undertow, I assume?

Good to see that half of KIOL's cume has posted in this thread. Why are you wasting the bandwidth on this abortion of a rimshot?

It's an abortion, yet it gets talked about a whole lot more than it's counterpart KKRW. It goes to show, when you provide an uninteresting radio station, people become uninterested. When was the last time you saw a thread about the Arrow?

I love that comment about concentrating on running KRBE into the ground. Nicely put! Adguy, I hadn't thought about it in that aspect. I believe what you say about the pie being to small to slice, with the regards to a business format. It is a very niche format. After all of this time, I would have suspected that KXYZ would have produced at least SOME numbers in the 12+, but has yet to crack into the rankings. It's unfortunate, because as you say, it is a quality format and their is a draw to it by many in the financial world.

Mediafrog is absolutely correct. The Movin' format is targeted towards the younger generation Hispanic female listener. It seems to be a growing trend in the industry now, and I would not be suprised to see more traditional Spanish language broadcasters turning to English language formats in the near future. Look at Border Media in San Antonio for a prime example.

Classic Hip-Hop, eh? Y'know, I don't really know if it would stand on it's own, but there sure are a lot of tunes from the 80's and 90's that remain popular today. I think it would be a great idea for an existing Rythymic such as The Box or Party to pick up for a weekly or even nightly set. Might have been good #2 choice for KROI had they not gone to Gospel. You never know, dj22, you may have just given a consultant or two an idea.

I sure hope so, as I believe it is the most neglected time period of urban music. Most stations urban A/C stations either skew 60's and 70's or as in majic skew mostly current with splashes of 70's -90's old school with little or no hiphop at all. There are tons of music to choose from that haven't been heard since the 80's. Especially the 1 hit wonders...

Something to think about...Consultants take the idea and run with it, i won't charge....
