Let me guess...A typical night on Free Hill so far: Joey Jenkins in N.C. (fresh back from doctor shopping) wants to hear "Children of the Sun" or some Robin Trower, Tater and Rick want to hear "Whiskey Man" by Molly Hatchett, Bath-tub Baby Doll wants to tell you about her problems and about how many bikini contests she's won, Adam the "Beatle Boy" wants to hear "The Long & Winding Road", The "Jaded Lady" thinks every song you play is for her, Christy & Eric call to tell you how they were great friends with the last DJ that worked there, Grave Digger thinks you're secretly communicating with him through the commercials you play, The Wine Folks in Vilas, N.C. want to hear some Bob Seger and Nazareth, Melinda wants you to come over to her trailer because her husband hasn't been givin' it to her right, but luckily for you she'll settle for "Paradise By the Dashboard Lights" by Meatloaf, Miss Nude Knoxville 1984 tells you she's contemplating Gastric By-Pass surgery to get her 1984 figure back, somebody calls imitating the "Tennessee Midnight Rambler", Three mullet heads call from the campsite down by the lake and request, "Casey Jones", "That Smell", "Cocaine", & "Snortin' Whiskey" and want to put them on the air so they can tell "all the single women in Piney Flats" where they're "party'in" at tonight, ten different people want to tell you that they're just an old rock-n-roller & they've been listening to QUT since 1978 and they've now driven their Camar'a to the top of a mountain in Kentucky so they can still pick up the station, some dude will call because you forgot his Charlie Daniels from two nights ago and he's still waitin', and when you forget it yet again, he'll call back and call you an ole "yankee queer" that don't know how to rock-n-roll and that he knows some boys in Jonesborough that'll take care of you, you get a collect call from the prison, that says: you have a collect call from... "Play Free Bird". . Oh, this list could go on and on. I'll say this, Yoda...You can make a lot of people love you or hate you. You might even save someone from Suicide by playing Foghat. Just ask Bud. ;)

Is there no compassion in radio anymore?.......Nah! What up Gerkin. Tell em' Gomer says hey. Don't get too excited Yoda. The GM got canned a while back and he'd been there since spark gap. Suck up to BG if you can stand the arrogance(he's such a nice man)and you'll be as revered as the Rambler...woo hoo! Just another dog buscuit of sarcasm from the Rabid One. Hey to Bud. Sounding good on the Monster. Woof!

I have LOTS of compassion. I just wanted to see how right I was about Yoday's first month or two on the job. QUT's listeners are about the most fiercely loyal creatures on the planet. The crazy thing is this : You can do your 7p-12a show on a Friday night and then come in to do a 10-2 the following morning (Saturday), and the same people are calling you, that were calling you ten hours ago. :D I love QUT. I love doing mornings again, but I miss the way the listeners never seem to lose their excitement about QUT and the classic rock format in the Tri-Cities even after all these years. Even back in 2000 when John Michaelson took over as PD and the PM drive slot. He had the #1 show in the market!!! That says a lot about QUT listener's loyalty. ;D BTW, I'm kidding about Michaelson. For anyone on this board that doesn't know the man...the Myth...The legend...John Michaelson can always be easily found on the world wide web.

Speaking of the man, the myth, the legend..... ::)
Straight from his own little world on the internet ....

Some of the best times of my career was spent working at WQUT. Unfortunately I had to pass up the opportunity to negotiate my possible return recently due to my current physical health issues.

(ahhh, I see what he did there... ;D)

Like to take this time I would to welcome Yoda to these parts. Like it here you may. Are you scared? you will be...you..will..be.
Go I must.
Again will I post.
Later it will be.
For God's sake, Jim, I'm a doctor.

P.S.
BTW Gerkin,
You smell like the inside of my Momma's purse.

Funny thing GERKIN was right about all the "LOONEY TUNES" that call this place. LOL! I was just saying "WAZZUP" to everyone on this thing! BTW I am from a TEN plus year run at 97X, WYYX, the ROCK station in Panama City Beach, FL and Dothan, AL doing afternoons and more recntly mid-days. I am recently off a 6 month run at CUMULUS owned ROCK103 WJAD, Albany, GA. I wanted just to introduce my OLD Ragged self to everyone. Thanks for the posting. Some SCARY sounding folks call WQUT.

Hey guys
just got an email from a former voice of Kiss-Fm in Asheville,"Brother Bill". Seems that a radio legend who's was
big in Los Angeles at one time has passed on. Jack Armstrong, who with his sidekicks the Gorilla and the old man he voiced himself quite well. Much like Claude Tomlinson of WIVK fame. There's airchecks of his on reelradio.com. He did gigs in Charlotte in the sixties. His announcement is probably on the front page of this website. Didn't load all the way when I logged on. What up Gerkin? MD

OMG...Marty the one man party from Island 106 in PCB.
What is up there Marty? I was PT overnights on WILN back in '97 I think it was and VT'd on 97X at night as "Diablo"...went to Z96 in FWB then to Mix 103.

Very true! Too bad it isn't the TV chicks that are the loose ones...right? Radio chicks are loose for show-prep!! I swear.
