Apparnetly, I'm not allowed to say ANYTHING negative against a few members here nor can I dsagree with their radical views or opinions..

With that being said....I have recieved several messages from two different members threatening me with all sorts of things, from calling my boss.. ruining my name in the industry and suing me (for what, I dunno). It's gotten to the point with both of these people, I'm going to walk across the parking lot after my show Monday morning and speak to the local Sherriff about pressing charges against them for harassment and threatening, as several people including my broadcast consultant/legal advisor has told me I should do.

Since the operators of this message board will do nothing to remove either of these members, I will stop posting on at least the Philadelphia board.. as thats where both members reside.

If anyone would liek to see the threatening person messages and emails I've gotten, email me offlist using the address below and I'll be happy to let you look at them.

P.S. I *KNOW* I'm not always in the right, nor am I perfect. I'm far from it. But nothing ive done even comes close to justifying what these people have said to me

Im with you too, im not gonna post on the philly board anymore either, but hey why am I posting here anyway? Im not in philly

The reason things like this happen on the board is because a few people like to spew their agenda which mostly starts from the left. They bring up a radio topic or respond to a subject that has more to do with politics then radio, but they wedge into their political agenda, and the next thing that happens instead of a radio related conversation...instead it becomes a "Hot Talk " radio show (except it's all messages).

Yes Radio Intern might bring up his redundant anti- rock posts to the ground, but I been on this board long enough to know what get's people like him started. This board should be used strictly on radio programming and concepts and informative news and articles (without the what are your thoughts on that).
Things like Sam Lit's post or something I read about KPIG in the Bay area I would've never found it if I hadn't seen it on Radio Info. it should be used for.

No one wants to be threatened or encourages it, but with everyday life on the street, you deal with these issues one way or another, and all we need is to start seeing people's agenda and rhetoric on the boards.
I know it's hard to stay away from these political issues especially when it starts about posting good or bad about a talk station. It takes one radical instead of commenting intelligently about the programming, just knee jerks or blurtly spits out the word racist. And that word has gotten to the point where it has lost it's true definition in the webster dictionary.

I'm with him. This board has been used for everything but what it's supposed to be. People are plugging their radio shows... starting with whatever agenda (regardless of left or right) it's just disgusting. You can't even talk radio because everyone wants to trash each other.

Q has some new jocks I don't hear anyone talking about how they're doin.

IN DEFENSE OF ROCK INTERN

I noticed after reading all your posts, that you are the one who is at fault, and on the attack. As a bystander, I see post, after post, attacking Rock Intern and others, who never mention or write anything about you. In fact, the last post, titled, "Farm Aid", you lashed out at Rock Intern and called him names so crude, that they had to be edited by the moderator. Also, in this post, Rock Intern makes no bones about sending you a message, about your remarks and offers to meet you to discuss the problem in person. Looks like you are the one who is in deep junk, I really hate people who think they are so above the law, in fact they are the ones at fault. So I am here to set the record straight, and will continue to do so.

I don't think it was so much crude as insulting-which is the problem with the editing anyway. The whole word is obscured rather that truncated and/or asterisked. We're all adults here, which also means we can surmise that the word in question wasn't vulger. Think along the lines of 'daft'. Not saying if it is apt or not, but read and do your own math. 3K Rock does nothing but yammer on about how rap radio sucks and rock radio is great in thinly veiled racist terms. Is this the type of thing you really want to defend?

I would love to meet him in person and discuss things. But it seems like he doesn't get out of the woods much, and he seems a bit cranky.

I'm not sure what 'law' you mean, but thanks for your dubious service.

amen!!

This has been an ongoing problem with these boards, not just this one. Someone posts an unpopular opinion and those who support the other side will try and discredit that poster's remarks. It's happened to me numerous times before.

The story: I, like RockIntern, am a rock music fan. I also like classic R&B, lounge music, smooth jazz (to a point) and a large variety of music that dates back to the 20's. I have made no secret that I think dance, rap and hip-hop are shear crap. That alone earned me a ton of enemies, especially under the old regime of this board. I've been called a racist, a Conservative, a redneck, trailer trash and they've tried to ban me. this blew up probably a week or two before the management change when an agenda-driven poster rose to Philly moderator. BOOM! Bye Bye Rob.

Another board like this is one that is connected to a radio show that CLAIMS to be about and for radio professionals. That is different, as the host's insecurity is the reason posts are removed.

The thing is, while RI does make some valid points if you drill down enough, a lot of his ideas are lost in the way it is expressed. Sure, he does come off as a bit essentric (sp?) and, hence, he is now the whipping boy.

Does urban radio belong on the airwaves? Of course. They have a voice as well, and their product does deserve to be heard. The hypocrisy is, when we had no less than about 8 stations targetting the rock audience (XPN, MMR, YSP, the Hawk, Mix/Max, the Point, MGK, Alice), the people from the dance/rap/hip hop side were all up in arms. Now, fast forward to where urban programming dominates the landscape, everything is copacetic (sp?), at least to them. In fact, one poster was allowed to openly gloat (even to this day) about the demise of Philly's Y-100.

We want to have our voices heard as well. we're down to two classic rockers (one technically out of market) and one full-time rocker. We're just looking for balance.

One thing that cannot be denied is the double standard. You have 97.7 Da Skore, which has flown under the FCC radar for years, and 900 WURD broadcasting material and commentary where, if it were a white station boradcasting filth against the african-american community, or a rock pirate, would be shut down rather quickly. Let's face it, people....it's 2006. I think we should be trying to find a way to coexist, rather than portraying our hatred for one another. Racism, no matter how its expressed, is wrong and shouldn't be tolerated, no matter who expresses it!

That being said, its a shame it comes to a point where a broadcast professional, such as Paul, now sees the need to cancel his membership here just because of a few troublemakers. Best of luck with your future endevors, Paul. Can't wait to hear you on WAMS!!!

Rockin' Rob, I'm in SoCal so I can't hear 900 WURD.... Can you give an example of their "material and commentary" .. Not picking a fight here (I agree with most of what you say), just want you to articulate (if you can) what they do that's not "copacetic".
Thanks

I've gone toe to toe with Mr. Altimari and many occasions... I think the guy is right and he expresses his opinion the right way. I don't think anyone has ANY issue with people not liking music. It's about not liking people and being completly and utterly ignorant and stereotypical.

Rock radio has been dying everywhere it's not a Philly issue it's an industry issue. Radio is becoming like basic cable more aimed toward lower income people because as the platform is expanding more expensive alternatives are coming out. To put it in SAT form:

Terrestrial radio is to basic cable as Satellite Radio and the mp3 revolution is to digital cable and satellite TV.

What you saw for a long time with WB and UPN is shows aimed and geared towards a lower income demographic the same is happening with terrestrial radio... the people who listen to rock have the means (for the most part) to move on to different sources to aquire the music they like. And according to the ideals of PDs and suits and what not (not mine) people who can't afford these alternatives are the type that listen to a more urban sound.

I'm just tired of all the racist BS. You have people here who disguise racism as radio commentary when you can JUST MAKE RADIO COMMENTARY. And if you disagree you're labelled liberal or apco will say you like Starbucks (which for the hundreth time I don't:)) I just don't understand why in 2006 grown adults can't use a radio message board without going 1 day with out making some sort of racially charged or motivated comment.

You can't just jump to call someone racist for not liking a type of music, most of the liberals, yes liberals let's not play sharades, who do this are far more racist then the person they are responding to. Like I said, how would the liberal kid respond to Rob or someone making a comment the same as the fugees who he brought up(with black changed to white)? We know he would start to foam at the mouth.

SoCal, I haven't listened to the station in years. But, when I did, it was a discussion on how "the white racists" were trying to convict "the African-American basketball star" Kobe Bryant and failed. Similarly, it was the same when Allen Iverson was having his difficulties with the law.

Again, its not a case of 'they can say it, why can't we". My case, as far as this goes is "racism is racism, no matter who says it".

WURD is a hate spewing racist machine 24/7/365, they applied and won applications for night power increase and direction, they now operate way beyond their COL and original coordinates. They are so above the law its pathetic, and Liberal Mister FCC is so scared nothing is done, its constant, every topic and forum is, bad, evil, whitey and poor, unfortunate, blackie, that is the best I can do with the format breakdown. You have to hear it to believe it, a few months ago they tried to insite a riot about the Duke Ho, which in turn was a bunch of bunk, if it were the other way around all hell would of broken loose. In todays PW this idiot Wells rips Smirconish for saying far less than any WURD host, its gone far enough. You see, its called Racial Cardplaying. WHAT isn't much better, same racial jargon. BTW ROCK INTERN MAILED ME AND SAID HE WAS BANNED AND WILL/CAN NOT POST DUE TO SOME COMPLAINING CRYBABY WHO CAN DISH IT OUT BUT CANNOT TAKE IT. and we all know who that is.

[MOD NOTE: ROCKINTERN WAS BANNED FOR THREATENING SEVERAL USERS.]

Since I'm on the west coast, I can't monitor this WHAT, but if I was listening and actually was hearing what your posting, the best way to handle this is to call and harrass the station. Have Fun...Play a Howard Stern and do a trick or bit with them. I'd call in myself several times a week and mess with their miiiinds. I'd have fun with this. and I'm good doing afro - american voices. HEY!!!!! DOooN'T GIT ANGRrryyy, Git , EEEven.
Now this post will probably end up being switched on to the off the air or coast to coast board or something.

"What's up with what?

The fact that I hate the music I mentioned???"

You hate rap and hip hop, well then you are a [EDIT].

Now if you will excuse me I need to go donate to the DNC and hide conservative books at the local Barns and Noble(you know it's a tolerance thing).

(just trying to fit in here)
