Just what is mix 106.1

This station has a serious identity crisis. Tonight, they are playing a mixshow that has played two very progressive remixes of Enrique Iglesias's "Tonight" and BEP "Time (Dirty Bit)"... these remixes wouldn't even get played on Q102. So what the heck are they doing on Mix 106.1? How does this appeal to 35-54 year old females?

Now, I think it's awesome that we actually have a station that plays half-decent dance music (okay, even if it's mostly just Top 40 remixes) in Philadelphia. I just don't understand why it is on the market's Hot AC.

My bet is that the January book will be slightly better than the Holiday, but still pretty miserable. Just make the station a full-fledged Rhythmic AC and stop the several year flirtation with this format that has clearly been a failure.

This new format SUCKS....I even removed the station from my presets....We dont need another mor station....You are right ...they should have stayed with 70s dance and classic soul....

IMO the mixes belong on Q102. It sounds and fits better on Q than on MIX.

Because they are still trying to be like a rhythmic AC, it reminds me of what KBIG 104.3 in Los Angeles used to do. I think they should bring back the My tagline and go back to Rhythmic AC. if Mix didn't work on 95.7 why would it work on 106.1?

I think 106.1 is the classic example of what happens when you program straight to demos rather than having a format of music based on demos. I think the official format of 106.1 is "anything that tests well in our target demo." Which leads people in that demo to have no idea what to expect when they tune in. So they don't.

The only format they can do without hurting their other properties is Oldies, ala KLUV style and bury OGL once and for all. Talk is out and any other format would hurt all their Urban properties, Classic Rock may be another way to go, but wide open not safe like watered down MGK, and grab VH1's Rock Nights.

Clear Channel in NYC has:
A mainstream AC
A CHR
A Rhythmic AC
A Classic Rock Station
An Urban Station

All in the same market. All in the top 10 (cheating a little - the urban station is tied for 10th. So, there are 11 stations in the top 10 and Clear Channel has 5 of them). They don't seem to cannibalize themselves too much.

KTU is more of a Rhythmic CHR not a Rhythmic AC

They report as Rhythmic AC (according to the ratings chart here at radio-info. But if they're a rhythmic CHR, co-existing and thriving in a cluster with a mainstream CHR and an urban contemporary, that makes my point even better than I thought it did.

MIX is more Rhythmic than BEN. would you hear GnR, Kiss or Zep on MIX...think not.

Woah. Take a look at the songs BEN-FM has added in the past couple days:

0 3 MICHAEL BUBLE Haven't Met You Yet
0 5 COLBIE CAILLAT Fallin' For You
0 6 DAUGHTRY September
0 10 KATY PERRY I Kissed A Girl
0 12 THE SCRIPT Breakeven
0 14 BEYONCE Single Ladies (Put A Ring...
0 15 BLACK EYED PEAS Boom Boom Pow
0 16 LADY GAGA Bad Romance
0 17 LADY GAGA Poker Face
0 18 KATY PERRY California Gurls f/Snoop Dogg
0 19 PINK U + Ur Hand

Looks like Philadelphia has another Hot AC format!
