Just what Rapid City needs - another country

Or at least the station owner feels that Rapid City is longing for a satellite country station. I didn't know that 99.5 (KRKI) was a new sign on until I read about it on northpine.com. That's 4 country stations on FM and one on AM. Yee haw.

Anothre brilliant choice by the owners of Badlands Broadcasting, a group out of NH called Northeast Broadcasting. And as you can tell, they spent zero dollars on the product.
They have no chance of success.

No kidding. Nobody in town even knows they exist. They haven't even done any marketing. Heck - the sign in front of their building doesn't even have the US99.5 logo!

Field,
My guess is the sign was done on trade, like their office furniture and their microwave, etc.

Rapid is so over radioed. Are 5 country signals necessary? I don't think the FCC had this in mind when approved the Telcom Act of 96.

99.5's signal is pretty horrible outside of the SD-44 area between downtown and the airport. I can't imagine it is having much of an impact in the Rapid City market.

The radio in these parts of the country stink because the right audience isn't there for it to make it spectacular. Which is why there's all these satellite formats. Satellite is not good radio IMO. If there were more people there (and not as diverse as NYC, L.A., or Chicago) localized would work I presume.

Maybe no one suggested to that owner that he try smooth jazz? Ah but that's mostly a failing format. You don't see 4 or 5 smooth jazz FMs on air these days that's for sure! ;)

Right there, is an example of a radio station that isn't really a community station. See the thread on the New England board for reference.

I can't find a website with any logo either. :( . You'd have to ask them for it.

What is it with you and logos?
