Just when you think WMBI has come of age...

You know, just when I thought WMBI has finally gotten into the 21st century, they do something to screw it up! I was never a WMBI listener (mainly KLove) but as I am always driving, you can't get KLove in the downtown area of Chicago so one day I switched to WMBI in the afternoon. Now, I just heard yesterday that Prime Time Chicago is going to be having major changes, and their afternoon co-hosts are splitting up. Collin Lambert will I guess go solo (not sure) and Denise is leaving. From what I heard it wasn't by her choice.
I think I heard her once when I was around the Rockford area, but I wasn't sure. Maybe she VT's? Anyone know anymore details? Any suggestions for a CCM Station to listen to while driving in downtown Chicago? The rest of WMBI is quite boring if you ask me.

What about WONU out of Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee? There also were stations in the suburbs of West Dundee and Lansing that played CCM. I don't how strong their signals were however.

Even the staunch Baptist WCBI in Dallas is playing the lower end of contemporary. And its now on my presets --- I doubt WMBI would be if I lived in Chicago.

I was listening to MBI FM last saturday morning and heard them do a nutrition show where the first 10 callers call to the guests 800# number got a free book. It was vitamins and supplements I think. I was really surprised. I've never hear MBI do pills and supplements.

Conversely urban praise in afternoon drive on AM 1110 did an awesome interview recently on a chastity ministry. MBI continues to change extremely slowly as it has been for years. WMBI AM 1110 during the morning is spanish and english in the afternoon. The afternoon drive show is an interesting change for moody. I really enjoy listening to Maurice on that show. He cracks me up.
It seems like the news reader on afternoon drive on the AM is gone recently. I wonder if the radio operation is going through a money crunch?

The interesting treat driving in the loop for me used to be Gospel 1390 before they turned on the IBOC signal. 1160 is the salem religous outlet. All the other AMs are mostly ethnic you won't hear much religion on them. 820 if your catholic.

Unfortuately, WONU's signal doesn't cover a lot of the Chicago metro since they're from Kankakee. Moody would never do it, but maybe they could either sell or lease the station to Olivet and put the Shine format on 90.1, at least then the programming would be fun and upbeat instead of stodgy, old and flat out boring like WMBI is. I would think the Shine format could do better than the 1 or 1.5 WMBI is getting with their 100K flamethrower.

ONU could take a coverage hit when adjacent channel WNIJ turns on IBOC in the near future.89.5/89.7. They may end up being mostly a webstream in the western suburbs.
