Just when you thought CC couldn't go any lower

And you know this is just the beginning...of the end

The music on pockets of Clear Channel stations in multiple formats is now being programmed from a central source, according to research conducted by R&R chart managers using monitored airplay data provided by Nielsen BDS.

At AC, a total of six stations -- in Beaumont, Texas; Columbus, Ga.; El Paso; Fresno; Springfield, Mo.; and Syracuse -- are musical carbon copies, apart from occasional fill songs, request features or different night-time programming.

Three hot ACs (in Fresno, Providence and Sacramento) musically match up 24/7, while two alternative stations (Albany, N.Y., and Oklahoma City) and one rock station (Beaumont, Texas) are musically identical outside of morning drive.

Are you effin kidding me??? If you ever cared about this industry, this has to stick in your crawl...remember when stationality mattered? Remember when radio was more than just a homogenius jukebox? Oh, for the good ole days...if you'll excuse me now, I'm gonna jump headfirst off the Security Bank Building

Isn't KRZR and KMRQ in Modesto linked together also, or it it just voice tracked from Fresno?

This is no surprise; CC has been building towards this for years. You were at ‘ZR when “Mikki Gamez” graced the airwaves (circa 2000). It was just a matter of time until they tried to reduce EVERYTHING to branded, network-style content.

They’ll try to sell it as superior because of access to test-groups and fancy computer programs spewing algorithmic bull****. CC Investors will love it because their dividend checks get a little fatter for a few months.

But I still believe in the power of the listeners to bring it back around.

Or satellite radio.

Wouldn’t that be a b!^ch if CC were ultimately responsible for Sirius/XM’s success? Make so much terrestrial radio so ungodly bland people actually PAID for an alternative!

It’s up to us…the last of the live and local…to see that these abominations do not succeed!

Not yet, Ken. They've both got Skippy on middays & HDXL on nights, but the playlists are still seperate (as of this afternoon, anyway).

Wow, now we have Ryan Seacrest.

And in nearby Clovis, at Alta Sierra, there are a hundred 12 year old screaming girls who've just learned about this through Twitter and will be camping out at CC's building waiting for him to leave tonight around 7.

Film at 11.

This is ridiculous CC is going to lose a lot of listeners, I see Y101 taking over The Hot AC format leaving Alice in the dark. If they central hub all their formats and take out the localization they will lose. It's good to see Wilks ,Peak, and Lotus not doing this, they still have DJ's and local programming.

I checked out Alice a few times yesterday and there's no continuity to the music. Sometimes, it's Hot AC... Other times, its just bad. Ryan's show especially sucked, but then I'm expecting something more like what's on KIIS. Might as well be listening to Tesh over on KSOF.

Y101 has nothing to worry about.

I am still waiting on a new Jack. Come on - somebody must know something.

I second that where's the new JACK. I noticed even today the Jack comment line 247-JACK is still there.
