They cancel The Tourbus! The 80's rock show thats been on for 7yrs......Why???? (sit down for this one) because Tony Paige doesnt like 80's rock music! He doesnt care what the listeners like he doesnt like it.

And in fact Tony and Nacy (station mng) dont like anyone who has ever listened to that station because they want a "higher class" listener! They feel WDHA's current group of P1's are too lowbrow for them and they feel they can get all "new" P1's BY GETTING RID OF ANYTHING THAT WAS EVER DONE AT THAT STATION IN THE PAST!

I wish this was made up but stuff like this cant be made up....this is what these people belive. Needless to say to sell this idea to an advertiser is impossible.

I've been to my share of country clubs and dont recall "Ozzy" ever being played so to reach their goal of a higher class listener a change of format must be coming.

Its amazing a company like Greater Media would let this happen to a station with such great heritage but then again if CBS can destroy WNEW then GM must think this is the way to go.

GM should do one of two things...

1. bring over the oldies format from sister-station WMTR-AM to 105.5 FM
2. simulcast the AC format from sister station WMGQ-FM (Magic 98.3/New Brunswick) on 105.5 FM

Either one would be better than what they have there now!

2 decent ideas. WMTR is much more listener friendly these days. And the DJs are MUCH MUCH better sounding. Perhaps that's the plan...........don't get to hear WMGQ much, so it's hard to comment.

I won't miss The Tour Bus, given my lack of taste for shalllow '80s butt rock.

However, New Jersey is hair metal ground zero. It was practically invented here! Bands like Bon Jovi, Skid Row and Trixter are from here, and several others continued to make a good living long after the genre died by frequently touring the area. Clearly, I'm in the minority for disliking this genre of music, so the decision to cancel this program (which was also broadcast on sister station WRAT) is somewhat baffling. But I look forward to something a bit more bold and daring in its place - perhaps a program focusing on the heavier rock seldom heard on Greater Media's tame stations?

It is my belief that stations want to make money and get good ratings. Putting hard foreign music on Saturday nights isn't going to do that for WDHA and who ever owns them. I lived 7 miles from that radio station. They were an institution. On the cover of our local paper when acts would come in. (If I remember right, hundreds camped out when bon jovi was there) Now, I couldn't tell you who is on and what the heck their playing. Maybe I'm too old....Put WMTR on 105.5. Some people hint towards a format change...think about it. different staff, music, etc...the format IS changed! Try WMTR! (or country 105....then they could play important bands like bon jovi, they just had a country hit!)

Guys... Say what you want... Dan Finn (Greater Media VP of NJ) know where WDHA is headed... The man has had the approval of some of the big wigs in the company... You can't really think, he is standing back and watching this happen.... He has a major plan... trust me... that Buzz guy(the real man who runs the company) wouldn't let this happen... For crying out loud... the higher ups in this this company read this board... you think someone as smart as him, would let you say things about him, and not feel the heat, if he didn't have a plan?

Oh Man Just when Tony Page got settled in his new home too! :'( Well perhaps Clear Channel Sussex can pick him up for some Part Time Promotions work because in terms of what I hear of him on air (on an empty-stomach of course) it truly isn't anything to write home about. Hell it isn't even worth leaning forward to reach for a pen! The BEST "All Request Luch Hours" on that shift are the ones when he is OUT and someone ELSE is filling in! Maybe as someone above noted, Greater Media IS reading this Board and its posts and can finally see that "YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET!!"

Curtis Kay should be the PD! To me THAT is a No-Brainer! I have personally met him and the guy has tons of knowledge, is down-to-earth, and is personable...3 Qualities that ANY Program Director SHOULD Possess!

Based on what the station sounds like and the "less than par" Jocks I'm fearing that the end IS near. Hell if I didn't know better I'd say that Clear Channel was running the shoddy operations over there. On second thought even they do MORE logical things than Tony Page. It's a shame he didn't just rent an apartment on a monthly basis :'(

Well i didnt want to belive it and i come here and its true. the one show left i was still listning to dha for gone! the only plan this dan finn guy must have is to get rid of every person who has worked of listened to that station and then flip the format cause nothing makes sense. why would you let all those jocks that had talent go and replace them with a high school radio staff. i mean how much do we have to hear that stoner kid the "coach" on the air? it sounds like he's running the station.
and the that girl at night lindsay can she sound more like she's reading?
the morning show cant sound any less rock n roll jim talking about his kids and that new girl talkeing about buying a lexus and then talk about resturants for 15min i mean come on give me a break. does anyone from that station ever go to a show? I go to starland alot and used to see the van down there all the time or even when it wasnt terri or matt could be seen walking around just hanging out.
plj sounds more rock then dha does and its sad to see the hometown station fall so fast.

I have to agree with DHA brass (if it really is their position), how long can you keep selling beer and motorcycles to 50 year old guys with pony tails. Buzz Knight is the guy calling the shots in Braintree for better or for worse. Dan Finn is a holdover from previous ownership.I suspect DHA will become more like WMGK.

So if DHA goes that route they'll will compete with Lite fm, PLJ, MGQ, SUS, and now FRESH 102.7. As a rocker they have Q104 and NNJ and thats about it.
Does the area really need another lite/soft station? And why would anybody listen to DHA when the NY stations have been doing it longer and can do it better. And who would lead this? Not Tony Page he was never a PD before DHA to begin with (although the staff was told he was one)
Im not saying that it wouldnt happen (it most likley will if they have there way) But rock can survive in nj if its done right and DHA had been doing it right till about a year or so ago.
