ATLANTA -- It's the protest that wasn't.
Hundreds of people joined a Facebook group protesting Justin Bieber's plans to move to the Chastain area of Buckhead. They said they made signs and planned to petition the singer to stay out.
A small group gathered at the corner of Blackland and Roswell roads Monday morning, holding signs that declared their "non-Belieber" status. Two Bieber supporters showed up as well.
"We're just concerned citizens," said Hank Maguire with the Buckhead Neighborhood Coalition.
The problem? Hank Maguire doesn't exist. Neither does the coalition. It was all part of an elaborate prank created by "The Regular Guys" radio show. Chad Shepard, an intern, posed as Hank Maguire.
The DJs said their fake protest organizers got calls from, and lied to, news outlets across the world, from CNN to the BBC. It was enough to cause a swarm of spotlight to descend on Buckhead -- all focused on one big prank.
