Justin Timberlake feat. Jay-Z - Suit & Tie

Just heard JT's newly released track "Suit & Tie" and I must say I'm excited for his return and the new album. What do some of you think?

STIFF! :'( Not the return anyone really expected. Certainly not his loyal fan base as they are slamming the song on social media. I (and mostly everybody else) expected something a bit more palatable. There really isn't a reason for Jay Z to be included either.

Chalk it up to another long awaited disappointment.

I was really not impressed.. If that's the single the label is leading with I think the rest of the album is probably much worse. It's unfortunate.

I would think that the best stuff has yet to be released. I thought the song as ok the first time I heard it. I liked it a little more the 2nd & 3rd time I have heard it. I think it is one of those songs that might grow on people. Remember, a lot of people didn't like "SexyBack" at first either as it was also different from what was being heard on CHR.

I didn't like Sexy Back at first and it took a while to warm up to it. I liked Suit & Tie more than Sexy Back on first listen. Is it the greatest thing he's ever done? No...but remember his first solo single Like I Love You did make the crowd go wild when it first came out either. I'm sensing a pattern here.

I was underwhelmed on my first listen, but the more I hear it, the more I like it. I'm a huge JT fan so I was expecting a lot.

My only real complaint is that Jay Z's verse is kind of flat and unnecessary. I expect more from him and it seems like he was phoning it in.

Some people must be responding to it well because its already #1 on iTunes and its been #1 on KAMP's Daly Download the past 2 mornings.

Exactly!! My morning guy and I were talking about it today. Ok so this song is a little downtempo, 70s throwback how can we make it hipper? Oh let's just throw Jay-Z in on a random verse. Ok problem solved!

The first song is always a 'heat check'... Mediocre record. The next single will be better. Suit and Tie will rise quick and fall just as fast. This was more for the myspace relaunch, as it was for the new disc.

I think it's a fun - if not overwhelmingly good - track and I like the '60s/'70s retro funk/soul vibe, but I agree it will probably burn quickly. And I also agree that the Jay-Z verse is unnecessary - when his verse comes along and the tempo changes it's like it's seguing into a completely different track.

I will say that I like it much better than "SexyBack," which I hated from day one.

The first time I heard it I thought it was just so-so. But the more I listen to it, the more I like it. I was cranking it up earlier today on one of my local CHR stations. I love the part in the middle where Jay-Z comes in.

Jay Z's 40 second interruption is out of place in a retro-type song like "Suit & Tie". Audacity took care of that, sounds a heck of a lot better too.

Just as people bemoan that Pitbull is thrown in songs to give it an 'edge', the same was done with Jay Z and 'Suit & Tie.'

Needless.

The song is a stiff, though.
