JVC Broadcasting... I Think they have it figured out

Looks like after a sub par launch of their new top 40 format WEAK 102.7 and with only one new client after 2 months(Casbah) the new management team at Atlantic Broadcasting has found a way to generate sales. Priority one was the landscaping issue. What happened was the building from the front looked so bad the sales team thought it was closed up and stopped showing up to sell their dynamite format. Now that the weeds will soon be removed sales people once again will be back to work and the path is now clear for them to deliver the money bags promised by John and Vic JVC Broadcasting. Second now that their top rated morning show (Dave and Jerry) has left they have no other choice but to make a major programming move. Yes PDs its the oldest trick in the book for ratings and revenue. They had to add the (.) Point to 983. It will now be called KOOL 98 point 3. In all my consulting days I have yet to see a group worry more about things that dont matter. Is someone paying these guys? JVC Broadcasting looks like they finally figured out the winning formula to make payroll into the spring. I was wrong. Tick tick tick. Just another silly post theyll probably copy and send to everyone around the building when they should be packing up thier desks. Dopes !!!

That's just "What I Heard"

Wow, you are one bitter person. I am guessing Dave, from 'Dave and Jerry'

Maybe you should learn from these two YOUNG guys. Look back when you were in your thirties....wait your still doing the same thing, complaining that someone BETTER replaced you. Entertainment is an industry, Survival of the fittest. Get off your couch and start doing something about all these younger more talented individuals that are running circles around you.

From reading the Nassau, and NY boards it seems like these guys get alot of press. Wouldnt you find it odd for two guys that are so bad at running businesses, Hmmm they seem to keep on going while the few haters keep bashing them. I am willing to bet that they were the ones that actually landscaped the building today. Afterall, according to you they have no money (anyone get a pic of the building?)

Your consulting days???? I am embarrassed to think you represented a medium which I am just starting my career in, you should be ashamed of yourself criticising the future of our industry, when you should be congratulating them on all their success so early in their lives. I mean they could have been like the last few owners of Atlantic Broadcasting............... #FAIL

Oh in regards to the comment of Dave up top, I may be wrong but who ever you are you should read the meat of my message

You guessed wrong, sir, I'm Dave. I don't ever hide behind user names, so what's yours, and what is your credibility in the business? I'm proud I've been able to stay in this industry for over 20 years, not only at Kool 98.3 but at Lite Rock 96.9 and Cat Country 107.3. So, obviously, many a GM and PD over the years thought I had a modicum of talent. I find your timing of a "whack washed up am show" comment coming on the heels of the best Morning numbers in 4 years, including #1 in Cape May County for our demo, and the fact this was your 4th post ever, a bit suspicious. Do you have a personal interest in JVC? An employee, perhaps? I sincerely hope you're not an investor, because these "successful" guys had to ask the investment company for a $30,000 advance to cover payroll on the 15th. If it's this bad in August, it's gonna be a long, cold, lonely winter. Enjoy Wild while you can. Oh, and make sure you keep us informed where and when we can listen to you! Keep the industry strong, brother!

JVC Broadcasting is healthy, their Long Island duo is operating in the black. Wild is not even 2 months old. Of course they'll not be #1 at the get-go, and they'll be operating in the red for a while. But soon enough, they will make money and repay all those loans. Wild will not go bankrupt like Pulse 87 did. Pulse started out millions in debt, but Wild and JVC are in good financial shape, so the time until it starts generating a profit will be much less.

Actually, my name is Michelle. I actually became interested in radio a few years ago when my friend Erika Roman tragically lost her life in a car accident in Orlando Florida. She was a friend of Vic Latino and followed a similar career path and positive work ethic. I only posted 4 times because I am new to these boards as I only came to promote Erikas charity softball game, but after reading these endless attacks on Vic, someone that Erika always looked up too, I was compelled to call you guys out. I mean honestly, he is running a business and if you were him in his position would you do the same to keep your business afloat? If you guys were as good as you say you are, were, can be, would you be in this current situation? If working at Atlantic was so bad, shame on you for not looking elsewhere. I am sure there is no chains holding you, oh wait there are no jobs.... As I said earlier if your good there is always work for you. Ok let's bash him for borrowing $30,000 to cover payroll, if I were his wife I would be pissed that he put his families personal guarantee on a loan to pay you ungrateful bastards. Your right it is gonna be a cold, lonely winter so let's hope Vic And his partners don't realize how demented you people in AC really are and walk away and close the doors. After all that the reality of business today, it is easier to give up then to try and re-build. so go ahead remain bitter while you count your past accolades I am sure bashing a role model like Vic Latino will look good on your resume as well.

Ding! I was right, it's personal. Michelle, in your defense of Vic you are calling out the wrong people. I haven't posted on this board since April of 2008! By the way, the reason we left had nothing to do with lack of talent. They would have kept us on as long as we continued to work for the pay we were making. Unfortunately, we can't feed our families on that, and my family comes before any job. I'm an ungrateful bastard because after 20 years I feel I'm worth more than $7,500? Wow! If that's the case, this business is full of them! We were promised a return to Full Time and it never came to pass, so it was time to move on, simple as that. You insult all the good radio people out of work by your assumption if they were good they would be working. It's not that simple. Automation is the Devil!

Okay, say if doomsday came, and Wild does fail, don't hold your breath for JSE to come back.....or you wouldn't care what becomes of 102.7 as long as Wild isn't there. Is it because of the "danz musik" that you people still have a grudge over? Still living in the past on what Steve Dahl did back in the 70's? I'm still waiting for JoJo or someone else @ Bring Back JSE's facebook, who said they would go to the Sandcastle Stadium, and blow up a bunch of David Guetta, Lady Gaga, Ultra Records, and Nervous NYC records. You want to shoot about failure and who's packing up?!?! The biggest failure...no wait...EMBARRASSMENT was proof that nobody cared about WJSE or bothered to go that extra mile and at least fight for an alternative rock station on another dial. All the complaints, the threats of showing up and doing a protest in Linwood, the bashing on a social network.....what happened to all that now? At least the G-Rock fans proved they were there for their alternative station. The fight to save JSE died three weeks after Wild, and everyone settled for the online stream, even though they complained about "who's gonna sit in front of the computer all day?" Well, you obviously are online if you are rambling about JSE not on 102.7, so what would be the difference to go to jserocks.net and do your complaining simultaneously?

As for you Dave, it does suck to take a pay cut, and then have no choice but to step down, but unfortunately it doesn't matter how good you are or what background you have nowadays. Hopefully you can land on Wibbage or either in Philly or Monmouth-Ocean for a lot more and still keep your demos on top. But you have to realize the company you worked for was already in the toilet BEFORE JVC came.

In all fairness to Vic & JVC, trying to fix Atlantic Broadcasting and getting the house in order is a tall task to take on. Especially given the economy, and the rather turbulent management changes. I hope that the management is making every effort to keep the paychecks coming to the people that are creating the product (and given the ratings at Kool, a good one).

I sincerely hope that they can turn the place around - I'd rather read in AllAccess positive stories about hiring local talent at Atlantic, rather than talent having to leave because of being paid less than a babysitter. People kvetching on this board who have lost their jobs are not "demented," but angry and puzzled at a business that has failed them.

Nice to know that Vic mentored your friend - this business is not exactly known to have allot of mentoring people in it.
