And the numbers they put up were VERY impressive. It will be interesting what the castaways and haters have to say. Nice job Vic and team!

Shouldn't this post be on the market #263 board somewhere?

These guys are not on the radar in the Nass/Suff #19 market. Kudos for making moves in Hamptons-Riverhead though boys. Competition is stiff out there.

I do like your name though Radio Daze.

ACTUALLY DJDAZE...

WDRE is on the radar in NASS/SUFF

and this board is called NASSAU-SUFFOLK/LONG ISLAND

LAST TIME I CHECKED, HAMPTONS/RIVERHEAD WAS ON LI :)

Why exactly is it on the radar? its #24 overall cume in the fall book in the REAL MARKET. Can you honestly tell me anyone goes home eagerly awaiting the #263 book numbers?

Anyway, my point is that it is misleading to call them #1 and #2 under the NASSAU/SUFFOLK Long island board in the TOP 20 MARKETS section of this website. We could fight for days about who 'sucks' or not.

Props to the LI stations with 3 in the top 5 in Market #19, Nassau/Suffolk WALK, WBLI & KJOY

They deserve it, even if you prefer vic and the crew.

Considering even with the translator on 101.5, Party 105 still has major signal issues in a good chunk of the market they did decent in the full LI book. I do agree that perhaps the title of the thread was a bit misleading by not pointing out that it was the Hamptons-Riverhead book and not the full LI book, and of course at the top of the Hamptons-Riverhead book isn't the same as being at the top in the full LI book. However, with that being said, its still a good job by Vic & crew.

'signal problems' haha lame.

i guess ill give up and send my props to the crew over there. keep the 1.5's rolling boys!

haha DJDAZE..

i guess my question for you should be...

When did TMO let you go exactly?

HA ;D

Someone's been drinking heavy doses of the haterade, haven't they?

I have no vested interest one way or another, but getting a 1.5 in the full Long Island book with a peashooter 600 watt main signal and a translator operating with less power than most light bulbs is no small feat. How about all the Long Island stations with more "mainstream" formats that aren't even cracking a 1 share?

well you done got me good radiomonster. clearly i must be a disgruntled employee to wonder why a 24th place finish gets so much praise.

and Neo....haterade. haha...eh awful.

now all the excuses, the signal, the translator, the format, blah blah.

why cant anyone simply say "hey, we like vic and crew personally. But when it comes to ratings he is in the basement and needs to improve to compete with the larger LI stations AND NYC stations (ya i know that sucks) with less excuses."

1.5's are not pulling in the national accounts and giving your sales team a whole lot to work with.

Well as a guy that sold radio Mr. Daze, (yes I do like the name), I think you are wrong. Remember we are only seeing the 12+ numbers, nobody sells off of that. In my previous years at WALK we only used the 12+ for bragging rights! You sell off of demos, (18-34, 25-34, 25-54 ect). I actually looked at the breakouts of the Nassau Suffolk market and both Party and Bone did very well. 18-34 party was in the top 4 of the nassau suffolk book, not bad for a pea shooter with 600 watts.
A sales team can do very well with that, sure its not the highly desirable 25-54 book, but that's not what party is shooting for. They beat Bli and some city stations in certain time slots that I dont think has ever been done before by party or any suffolk station.
So my point is, really can't judge them, or any station on the 12+. It is all about the demo in radio that's what we sell.

I totally agree Daze. #4 in the 18-34 Nassau / suffolk demo is not bad at all, but when you take out the 2 NYC stations, they're actually #2 in the Nass / Suff Market which is even better. In fact, if you put in all of the Long Island Stations, Party is #2 in most of the dayparts which is great for them. Especially since their rates are probably a quarter of what BLI, (the #1 in the demo) is charging, which probably makes buying Party 105 more efficient. Great Job Vic & crew!

In comaprison to where Party 105 was before, this is an improvement! :)

Does more work have to be done? YES. But this is an excellent start with the new company in comparison to what Party 105 was during the TMO days.

great story in Long Island Business News about Vic, Party and LaFiesta radio

http://libn.com/blog/2009/01/29/vic-canales-speaks-out-about-li-radio/

I think DJ Daze needs a reality check. Party 105 is on fire. Yes, # 24 or 25 in the Nass / Suff market as he puts it, but in the 18-34 year old demo that they target, they are the #2 station on Long Island. Thats huge for a station with no coverage as you put it. Back in the DreDog days, i very rarely heard anything other than a nightclub spot. Now I hear Bethpage Credit Union, 7-11 and full commercial breaks. Sounds like the advertisers are waking up to realize this is the demo that has money! I don't know what your story is DJDaze, but if I was an ex TMO employee, I'd be trying to work my way back in....
