K 104.7 Speeding Up Music

Is there any conceivable reason why an AC station would pitch up currents and recurrents? Especially since there is no direct AC competition in town, (and I think the CHRs even are pitched up less), what gives?

Sounds absolutely atrocious, to me at least. Does whoever is programming it also program Kiss (or would rather be programming Kiss)?

Things like this are why I am still amazed K won the AC war and forced WLYT out.

If you speed up 6 songs in a 30 minute period that takes away like an extra 5 seconds per song,
which equals another 30 second commercial during commercial breaks.

I also totally disagree with speeding up music (actually I like it better slowed down at -2% versus sped up +2%)
The radio edits of many songs take away 30-60 seconds per song anyway.
It's rare that I hear a song over 4½ minutes on the radio anymore.

I remember about 8 years ago when I lived on the Jersey Shore, I would listen to WRDW (Wired 96.5) out of Philadelphia,
and their liners would poke fun at Q102 for speeding up their music, which at one point was up 4% over normal...lmao :p

Yes, CBS Radio owns and programs both Kiss 95.1 & K104.7
both stations really speed up their music and it's annoying to me as well. :(

I understand why CHRs speed up music, but for an office listening station like WKQC, I feel there is absolutely no reason for it. It just sounds out of place. Not sure what the PD is going for there. The new imaging is fairly obnoxious as well.

The CBS ACs nationwide seem to be trying too hard to "freshen up," so I wonder if it is part of a corporate plan. Rather than a gradual evolution, they seem to be becoming very agressive very quickly.

Well, at least in a few days, I'm sure the Christmas tunes will arrive at 104.7 with no pitching necessary.
