K-Earth Imaging Sounds Like Promos and Bumpers for Saturday Morning Cartoons of the 70s

There's no doubt that KRTH has energetic imaging that is nice and polished. The voice reminds me of the ones I used to hear as a kid for Saturday morning cartoons, especially for the K-Earth "Say it and Win it" contest, I'm always anticipating :...and now back to Bugs Bunny and Friends!" at the end of the promo.

I do know that there has been a trend to get away from the big deep and powerful voices over the last decade and a half.
Not only that...

I'm not a huge CBS (or any traditional network) viewer, but realized recently that they are using "viewer drops" between shows. They are 10" views of a viewer, with name and city of residence overlay and a "Hi, I'm Cindy Johnson. Make your day more beautiful."

Each one has a different "saying" that is equally trite. The image generally shows kind of a "family photo" kind of background.

In radio, we invented listener sweepers in the 70's. TV just discovered them.

CBS has had promos encouraging people to send in those videos since at least December:
I’ve only seen a few on air at different times.

According to the website, it’s “Powered by Greenfly”, which uses an AI platform to help sports leagues and other companies they partner with make money from short form content:

"... and oh the heights we'll hit, on with the show this is it."

The CBS viewer drops are horrible. I find myself wondering what’s their point. They have no relationship to the product (of the moment) or reinforcing a CBS brand - if there is one. (Your home for pharmaceutical ads?) The worst of the 70’s radio listener sweepers were far better than these train wrecks. CBS just continues to get in its own way.

The inspiration is more social media than classic radio sweeps. With reality TV and social media, everyone is a star. More people use social media than watch network TV. So it's simply an attempt to feel a bit more relevant in a time when network TV has become obsolete.
