On Wednesday Hollywood Hamilton had a screaming match with Jhani Kaye that was heard at every station in the building on Wilshire! Guess Hollywood doesn't get it, he ain't the star he thinks he is. Jhani Kaye has plans for Hollywood, Bye Bye!!!

Really? What news print source reported that? Why can't you people site your sources? Was it in allaccess? LA Times? Or were you just in the building when it happened?

Riddle me this: Why do you people seem to hate guys like Hollywood and Seacrest? Oldies music is going 70s and 80s. Hollywood is from that era. You can't blame a radio station for trying to stay current, imho.

Who exactly are "you people"?
Hollywood's hit the scene in the mid-late 80's era (not 70's).
He has no ratings.....hence, the bashing. Robert W. Morgan would beat him...now. (I know, I know).

That has nothing to do with Ryan who is ten years younger and has slightly better ratings.

And you can't blame a radio station for trying to stay current???? An oldies station??? With an ex-top 40 jock from the 80's??? uuuhhh okay.

Slightly? He has stellar ratings, and smack int he KIIS target of 18-34 females... where he does better than Dees did in the final years.

I said that facetiously.
Although...he's not quite Dees...yet.

Aw, that is the problem with the web... we never know whether a comment is said with a straight face or not. :)

In some senses, while he is different, he is a much better match for today's young female than Dees was. and that is a sign of the times, because I find him vauous and nowhere near the talent of Dees.

I have listened to Hollywood Hamilton once or twice and found the show profoundly unfunny and dated. Maybe it's unfair to judge the show based on such a limited sampling, but there you go.

Of course, I haven't liked any morning DJ's (Dees, Mark and Brian) except for Charles Laquidara when I lived in Boston (WBCN, when it was great...) So who am I to say? Howard Stern is (or should I say "was") engaging and talented except his tastelessness (teasing stutterers, midgets, toilet humor) is a turn-off. His news analysis can be insightful and hilarious.

Back to K-Earth, I'd say K-Earth should abandon the "wacky" morning DJ shtick and just go with music in the morning. It would be a low-cost experiment.

Maybe because a guy like Hollywood, who has a serious knack for rubbing people the wrong way, has given "us people" reasons to dislike him on more than just a professional level.

The guy's burned a lot of bridges and made a lot of enemies in this business, and if he's just done it again at the one company that was willing to take a chance on him after the 'KTU debacle, his next career move may very well be a used car dealership.

As for lumping Seacrest into your question: Whatever people may say about Ryan's abilities on this board, I don't see too many people saying he's not a good guy. And personally, I think whatever Ryan-bashing takes place on this board comes from those who wish they'd had the breaks that Ryan has had... and a lot of that was just plain being in the right place at the right time. Can't fault a guy for that!

I can't stand Hollywood Hamilton's Act...

Yet the times I met him, he seemed like a really nice person. Not fake like Rigdon Dees the Third. Leave him alone, and let him do what he has to do, to wrap up his employment at 101.

No one asked my opinion, but...

I agree with Steve. Hollywood is an okay guy - just way out of his comfort zone right now.

And I suspect that they whole Seacrest-bashing thing is just because, as you said, he got the breaks that everyone else wanted. And because, let's face it, next to Dees, he doesn't really compare. Maybe in another 15-20 years...

Thanks Doc Wu!

It's Scott, like the toilet paper!
