K-Hit coming back

It looks like Citadel is bringing back the K-Hit name to Tucson. They registered the khit1075.com domain on Friday.

Well that would work nicely with the FRESH brand. Fresh Hits?

If memory serves me correctly, K-Hit, as it was in the late 90's, was a precursor to the current "Bob" formet on 97.5. How would it benefit Citadel to have 2 stations doing such a similar format? Or are they thinking of doing a double flip, to put the classic hits on the flame thrower signal? How does "Bob" do in demo?

Well, who says K-Hit will be a classic hits or Bob-style station? Normally, when I think K-Hit, I think CHR.

Like some of you, I remember KHYT when it was on 1330 Khz AM & when it had a (in my opinion) a "Kick Ass" format. If something like that was to be on 107.5 Mhz FM, (and properly programed), it would pose a serious threat to KRQQ and maybe even KOHT. ....aahhh the good ole days..... what fun it was! ;D

It could be another Hot AC. Ever since Z flipped this market hasn't really had a true Hot AC station. But with so many varieties of regular adult contemporaries (Mix, Mountain, Bob) and with KLPX taking a lot of the similar demo it might be difficult for one to work again.

A flavored Rhythmic to compete with Hot and KRQ might also be interesting. But that would be pretty reminiscent of what Phoenix is in. A poppy-sounding Rhythmic and a Rhythmic with good market history but a bad signal coverage.

A smart move would be Classic Hits. The same pre-Citadel version that got 'em in the top of the pack on a regular basis.

Yo Doc - call up Bobby, Don and Glenn and get the band back together! 8)

Billy,

Gotta say I'd like nothing better. My 5 years there with those guys are hands down the best 5 years of my broadcast career.

And, guess what? I know where ALL of them are!

Thanks so much for the vote of confidence.

Some of my favorite memories are kicking it with the KHIT crew - even as a lowly promo intern. You guys provided a lot of unintentional teaching for a young wannabe DJ...

I'm always thinking happy thoughts for ya Doc!

This is the type of support that keeps me going.

I hope you know how much I appreciate it.

I really haven't noticed too much of a difference..the website rocks though..lots of great info and well laid out..and NO, I didn't do it. They need to
build up the air staff, get them out on the street, maybe hire and out of work jock or two :)

Sounds much like Bob. What do you mean by build up the airstaff? Better talent?

No, I think the talent line up they have now is pretty good, but I would market them as well as the station.
Get them on the streets, meeting people, kissing babies, charity stuff. I don't see too much of that, or is that
needed anymore?
