In another display of brilliant programming, K-HITS 106.7 fm, will air classic American Top 40 shows on Sundays from 7-10AM beginning July 1st. These guys sure are doing it right in Portland. All classic hits stations in this country should model themselves after K-HITS.

i listen to the on-line stream of AT 40- the 70's on a station in springfield, IL.... right now they are re-playing the FIRST AT40 show from july 4, 1970, so get those recorders going tomorrow morning

I am streaming AT-40 from the Seattle area on khits1067 dot com. This morning, Sunday, July 8, the countdown is for the week ending July 11, 1970. What fun! This takes me back to my youth sitting in my bedroom on a Sunday night with old KJR AM on my radio, listening to Casey count em down and writing every record he played on a sheet of notebook paper from #40 to #1. I learned so much interesting music history and trivia from Casey as well. I loved his little anecdotes.
Note to all the Classic Hits (oldies) stations out there. THIS is the kind of fun programming extra feature that listeners enjoy. In fact, K-HITS should be the template for all classic hits stations. They have nailed it in Portland.

WODS-FM/Boston, Oldies 103.3, also airs the classic AT40 Sat nights from 11pm-1am starting just a few weeks ago. The couple shows I've heard have started around #27 or 26 or so.

And if you are interested, the #1 song in the land for this episode is.....well, I won't spoil it for you. ;D But there is a WODS/Casey post on the Boston board where I posted this week's #1 song if you just can't wait. ;)

i used to listen to that stream...until i found out it was only 2 of the 3 hour show...i found WNNS in springfield, ill that airs the show saturday night at 5pm (pacific time)....easier for me to listen to the show since i work graveyard shifts.

Oh 5PM would be great except for the fact that I enjoy listening to Dick Bartley's live show Rock and Roll's Greatest Hits on Saturday nights from 4-9PM. I have to stream his show on a station out of Virginia since the bird brain who used to program KBSG in Seattle decided to drop both of DB's shows last year. So as for Casey Kasem and AT40 I will just have to continue to wake up early on Sunday mornings to stream it on K-HITS.

we outta see if KBSG could start carrying AT40 - the 70's....that would be perfect for the station...considering the direction of the station

I would love it if KBSG would pick up AT40. I am only hoping that the station does not continue to venture more in to the 80s. It is bad enough to hear Footloose, Flashdance, Eye Of The Tiger. I certainly don't want more of it. KJR FM in Seattle is in the crapper because they've gone 80s. KBSG needs to stick to the 60s and 70s. It is obviously working for K-HITS in Portland.

Interesting that you brought up KBSG picking up AT40 Grindlfan, I e-mailed the PD at KBSG a few weeks ago asking if they could pick up either AT40 the 70's or AT40 the 80's. Yesterday I got a response back from him and he mentioned that KBSG is going to start airing AT40 the 70's Sundays starting on August 5th, he also mentioned that the show will be aired from 8AM-11AM.

yes...that KBSG is airing the show....boo...at what time it's gonna be on (i work overnights...at least i will hear the last half hour on the way to church...lol)
