K-LOVE LOOKING TO UPGRADE AGAIN

R

Rick Rose 2.0

Guest
K-LOVE has just applied to upgrade 94.9 to a class C3 licensed to Bartlett and to move 94.7 into the Jonesboro area to allow for the move. Just over a year ago a construction permit was issued to move 94.7 further out from Memphis so 94.9 could move close to the city. I do not know the status of that CP but EMF is now trying to make 94.9 a player in the market with a good competitive signal.

It was approved over a year ago. I had wondered why they had not made the change, and I suppose this is why.

The C3 application will be approved. It has already been Accepted For Filing, as has the 94.7 application (which won't serve Jonesboro very well, but it gets it out of the way).

EMF is sooo good at this.

The new app works out to a pretty decent signal where the people who probably matter the most to K-Love actually live.

Another factor was that they were waiting until they had moved 94.9 in Ripley, TN to Hayti, MO. That finally happened a few weeks back, and the format was changed to God's Country, which is their third network that carries Southern and country gospel. They also are applying to move 94.9 in Hayti to 98.7, which will work into the changes to 94.9 in Memphis.

I was going to add this earlier, but ran out of time again. EMF changed the call letters in Ripley to WGCQ a few months back, and they still have those call letters even though they've moved across the river into MO, at least for now.
