Buffalo k love 's dead air

If they are using satellite to feed their transmitter, it could "sunfade" for 3 to 7 minutes for a week or two depending on which satellite they are using. If they share a tower, there could be "construction or antenna repais or insulation" by other users. They could be on a crappy AC feed and their generator (if they have one) is slow to start.

Except for an engineer who may or may not live close there most likely not a KLove employee between Buffalo and Nashville unless someone was "left behind" at the Indiana studios.

I don't think there are any KLove employees on this site so I doubt you will be an answer that is not a (guess).

They need another begathon.
Another 100 people at $30 a month and a $3000 Visa gift card, tons of clapping and cheering, and repeating the phone number 28 times in a stopset should do it.

Which is why I support LOCAL Christian radio. K-LOVE won't get one penny from me.

Those of us who think they have too much 💵 already thank you.
There's way too much as it IS. I mean, you've got K-Love on 102.5....Air 1 on 89.9....Family Radio on a whole LOT of stations....Dove FM on a few stations in WNY....simulcasting WZXV out of the Rochester area on two translators in the suburbs...Reach FM on a translator located on Grand Island...and you have the Crawford stations at 99.5 and 970, plus a Catholic station at 101.7 .

You missed 90.7 CSN in Buffalo (used to be a sister station to 101.7)

Yeah really, huh, I say bring back 101.7 the Spot!
Now THAT was a station with great music.

Those that complain of too many religious stations need to start working on finding funding to buy stations to preserve the formats you want. The reason there are so many religious staions is because the complainers were complaining while the Christian stations were rounding up cash to make offers to buy or start stations. How about it? Will you complain about this post or do something?

One advantage the Christian broadcasters have is no P & L statements for Wall Street. Also most don't have significant debt too.
One thing they should not be doing is taking about politics or giving opinions or favoritism. If they do, they should be taxed. Just like a church.

These groups have so much money and pay no taxes. Stay out of politics or get taxed!

I worked for a CPA and tax specialist who told me a church/ministry that talks politics (and specifically endorses a candidate) is in violation of the IRS class of non-profit generally chosen by churches and ministries.

Some ministries/churches have plenty of money but most don't. I know of one Catholic FM serving about 30,000 to 40,000 people. They bring in about $18,000 out of the needed $50,000 to operate. I was under the impression they got a loan (likely personal and eventually written off at some point).

Likewise a 6kw FM in a county of 60,000 ran a general Christian ministry with local churches and a variety of music. After too many years of about $7,000 coming in annually, they sold to a much larger ministry for the balance owed.

Frankly, these two were not dong begathons like you'll hear monthly on Air1 and K-Love. And maybe if they did, things would be different financially. They're not all rolling in cash.

And I, for one, would be happy to see them lose their tax-exempt status. Not that I expect it under the current administration.

Also, as I said earlier, EMF already has too much money. And I was raised to believe that God is everywhere and is omnipotent, so when I want to talk to Him, I just look skyward and start talking. God does not need all these transmitters to make His plan known; He will give you signs if you just stay aware.

Why should there be any sort of tax break for any organization peddling supernatural beliefs and/or codified superstitions and folk tales?

Because there are and always have been. And because local churches do alot in their communities (help poor and such).

Yes. The real problem is that a tax-exemption which was meant to help local churches has been co-opted by Trinity, and K-Love/Air1 (EMF), and VCY America, and Family Radio, and ... and ... and ...

(Excluded are Salem and Bott, neither of which claims non-profit status, to their credit.)

In case it was missed by most, last year the National Religious Broadcasters (their industry trade group) sued the IRS over the provision disallowing non-profits from endorsing candidates:

It's interesting how K-LOVE and TBN work together to make glitzy awards shows for Christian artists while they still beg 2x/year for several days in a row, promising a chance at a $5000 Visa gift card or a trip to Hawaii. Too bad the awards show can't be an ALL OUT thing with local CCM stations and regional networks coming together for that same benefit. WAWZ is a local voice of hope for NYC and NJ. WGTS is a local voice of hope for DC and Delmarva. Personalities and people based LOCALLY. Huh? Who would have thought?

*I really like AIR 1's worship music, so don't get me wrong, not everything EMF is bad. Especially live versions where you hear the crowd praising Jesus and His power, worthiness, and peace. I just don't care for K-LOVE and the company as a whole.
