K-Rock 2 New York's ONLY Alternative

I tuned in today and they were playing the Strokes, albeit not the most indie band, but something you won't hear anywhere else. I think I'm giving up on 92.3 and radio in general for a while...now if only they'd fix their bitrate.

its sickening how amazing K-Rock2 is. They are playing a lost classic right now, The Cure's "A Walk." I wish New York had an alternative station I could listen to on the train so much :-\

Is 92.3 basically still the "shuffle" format playing only hits?

I agree K-Rock 2 is the best. Remember when the first started streaming and they positioned the station as: "Playing New and Interesting Music!" They should have had it say "K-Rock 2: playing new and interesting music. 92.3 K-Rock: Playing Old and Boring music."

Without getting into a discussion about HD Radio penetration, I find it interesting that 92.3 has had a second station, ready to go, all these years and yet they've never put it on HD, whereas the other CBS stations have HD running, even if it's to rebroadcast WINS, in 102.7's case. Makes no sense to me.

me either,
K-rock 2 is the whole reason why I got a Sangean HD receiver last year to find their not using it!
q 1043 HD-2 I love a lot!

i don't have hd radio, mostly because I have a computer and an mp3 player, but I think they are simulcasting K-Rock terrestrial, which everyone in new York will agree is shite. So we are stuck with the internet stream...which was good in 2000, but nowadays can't hold a candle to random internet station at 160kb/s. But K-Rock2 is well programmed. it's tough and I choose K-Rock2 over shoutcast right now, but when if a station ever came along playing the same genre with a 160 bitrate I'd switch.
