K-Rock 2 survives for now

Fortunately it seems that K2 was not a victim of the switch...it's continuing with its normal format as of now, and www.krockradio.com redirects to the K2 website. Only difference? It's now known as "K-Rock HD."

I figured that K-Rock would still live on with HD. There would be no way to completely dump the entire rock format on the frequency. Isn't WNEW on HD on 102.7 still?

K-Rock survives in name only though...the music is much closer to what K-Rock 2 was playing. It does seem they've added bits and pieces of the 92.3 playlist but it's largely the new music that K2 was playing until this afternoon, which is probably the best thing they could have done.

WNEW.com continues on 102.7 HD2.

I guess that "K-Rock" made a big move from terrestrial FM station to an HD-2 station and they will keep "K-Rock" alive to bring some men to its HD-2 station. I'm not a fan of rock stations, but the choice is WRXP will earn some listeners from "K-Rock" after the station has thrown out the door. Back in 2007, CBS-FM brought back the good old music after the "Jack" disaster, and then 92.3 gave up the rock listeners, but not very happy with "K-Rock" at all. But I hope CBS will do a reasonable job moving from the regular FM station to the HD-2 station.

But again, nothing really moved. K-Rock2 was already on HD2. But since there is no "K-Rock 1" anymore, KRock2 is now just plain old "K-Rock" but with pretty much the same music as K2 (thank goodness).

Remember when Dan Mason was in a renaissance phase, bringing back the likes of CBS-FM, K-Rock and KFRC? This could be another one of his "failures"...

I'm very happy with this move. I enjoy the alternative mix on WXRK-HD2, and I feel good about it being THE K-Rock now, even if it's still only on HD and online.

What is this kid on youtube talking about? Something kind of stupid I found. The kid is saying if Now FM doesn't make it CBS might want to bring back K Rock in September or December if they don't do well. Who knows where this kid is getting his sources. Just thought you guys might want to see it.

As a rock music fan, I'd prefer if K-Rock never came back. I'd rather not have any option that have a potential situation only to see that potential get pissed away with more predictable boomer-era classic rock.

I've been listening to WXRK-HD2, and the music sounds great, but I've noticed that some of the liners still say "K-Rock 2". They should fix that ASAP.
