K-Rock Billboards

So K-Rock has put up billboards with women that have rock band logo tatoos on their back. People get offended. Even the mayor of Denville, NJ.

http://www.923krock.com/pages/2022483.php

I guess we cant show the backs of women any more because, god help, a 9 year old may see the back of a woman and may grow up complexed because of it. The billboards will be taken down late this week.

Opie and Anthony had a good point. Local TV station news covering the story brought free advertising for K-Rock and O&A.

Denville is a rich snobby area of Morris County. They don't represent the majority of us who didn't find anything wrong iwth them...actually liked them. One of the people they spoke to was from Hackettstown, that's Warren County anyway. That's not representative of Morris County.

its 2008 censorship doesnt matter anymore. we are no longer in the 50's. for the morons who got offended: JUST IGNORE IT.

Some would say censorship started going downhill when South Park came around..then Britney Spears debut back in 1999 blew that wide out in the open. Ever since then, the short skimpy outfits, hair coloring became even more common. Became normal to dress slutty/showing more skin.

There's been WAY worse billboards out there, even by Calvin Klien. Radio always seems to be the easiest ones for politically correct igno-ramuses to target. They should put up a billboard of a giant butt mooning those people & have it say "BUTT PLEASE-JUST ROCK". I wonder if it were a humorous ad with fat men's backs if they still woulda bitched. Next thing attractive faces will be unacceptable.

WNOR in Norfolk Did The Same Thing Here is the Story on That

:// FM99 naked billboards get “Censored”
Controversial billboard babes to get bikinis and “Censored” signs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE... Not since “Desperate Housewives” star Nicholette Sheridan dropped her towel during an NFL pre-game skit has there been this much controversy over a bare backside.

FM99 raised the hackles of some locals last month when the radio station erected billboards featuring the naked backs of three women, and the words “Go Rock Yourself” covering their bottoms.

City officials in Norfolk reportedly received complaints from citizens. Norfolk spokesman Bob Batcher told one local TV station that the biggest concern was, “perceived partial nudity.” Eventually, Norfolk officials asked the billboard company, Adams Outdoor Advertising, to take the billboards down. FM99 and Adams obliged, but not without making a point.

Today, May 9th, at 8AM, FM99 is having bikini tops painted on all three barebacked women on one of their billboards. It’s located at the corner of Indian River Road and Military Highway in Virginia Beach, right near the Norfolk border. Over the weekend, Adams Outdoor Advertising began putting large “Censored” signs over the women’s bare backs on the billboards. “It’s cost prohibitive to paint bikini tops on every single billboard,” said Adam’s sales executive John Abraham...

All three local news affiliates have picked-up on the story. WTKR (3/CBS) will run a piece on it's noon newscast today (5/9) which also will be streamed LIVE at WTKR.com..... (5/9/05)

I'm not going to give the whole story on it, but I can remember about five years ago KISW/Seattle having the same billboards but no one making a big deal about it.

I have no link to support this memory. It may just be a fragment of my imagination.

And the whole Go _ _ ck yourself. "R O"
Has been used by various Clear channel rock stations,
such as WEBN/Cincinnati or WEGR/Memphis.

Ahh... the corporate radio world. Nothing else quite like it.
