It's been sold, with the new owner being Edgewater Broadcasting. Christian programmer in the English language.

Now, the interesting part. $100 is all it took to buy it. $100!!! Even crazier, it's slated to rebroadcast a non-comm from Markleysburg, Pennsylvania. I can't wait to hear how this came about. Smells fishy at the $100 purchase price. If I'd have known, I'd have bought it for that and resold it.

Edit to add: Frank, can you change the title? This should be K217DJ, if it's the Kemah translator. K217GB is, of course, the Med Ctr. translator for NGEN Radio and I didn't catch the gaffe prior to the posting.

The sale might have been between associated companies or it might be the trading that goes on between such broadcasters where a tiny amount of cash is exchanged on each transaction.

When it comes to the non-commercial broadcaster, when a filing window is open, you grab anything you can. Anything you get, you take.

For example, I know of one Spanish language broadcaster that applied and got a frequency that would serve an area with fewer than 10 Hispanics and who knows how many would speak Spanish or want to hear their brand of religion, if any. Very soon the CP went to another group, then another, winding up in the hands of an English language religious broadcaster. As I recall, this Spanish language religious broadcaster traded for a frequency in South Texas. Reminds me of a poker game. The cards are dealt and you give up some cards, perhaps, in hope of getting better cards before the hand ends.

The station they will rebroadcast is what gets me.

$100 for the license only....the equipment, etc could have been done in a separate private sale ....legal and been done before..

For example, 88-7 in San Antonio is doing this rebroadcasting 89-9 in Twin Falls, ID. K204DX's signal is also received off-air and rebroadcast on K292FF covering a different part of town.
