K231AL Tyler, 94.1

It's been confirmed that the programming on 94.3 is that of "Aguas Manatiales" and not Paulino Bernal Envagelism...it's also supposedly on the air as well.

Interesting.

Any explanation as to why they're at 94.3 and not 94.1 as licensed?

And where is the originating station?

94.3 isn't associated with the 94.1............. yet, they say 94.1 is on the air.

This gets stranger by the minute. Do we have a pirate on our hands at 94.3?

What are they "translating?" The rules say that they have to rebroadcast a station that can be received off the air at the translator location. They are not allowed to originate programming from the translator, except for brief fund raising announcements, nor are they allowed to take a satellite feed from some network. You can only do satellite fed translators in the educational (reserved) band.

This does get stranger.. I did think for a minute about the fact this could be a pirate...

HA! There's nothing at 94.1--not even a dead carrier.

Right. Every time in the past few months when I've been close enough to Tyler to check it out, 94.1 is MIA. But 94.3 has been there every time. Coincidence? I still suspect somebody's pulling a fast one: either the people with the genuine, authorized translator decided to use 94.3 because it's a better frequency, or K231AL (or its permutation) really has never hit the air. So with 94.3 it's one of two scenarios; an authorized station operating illegally, or a pirate, n'est-ce pas?

I'm beginning to think this situation has something in common with the number of licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop....the world may never know!

Although, I'm beginning to thing we (me included) have gotten to the point where we have nothing better to do than chase down translator stations to determine if they're operating legally. What's happened to us ??? ???
