K232CQ 94.3 Yosemite Village

What's the point of this translator?
With 23 Watts at -235 Feet, it doesn't cover much of anything.

Coverage map link:

It serves the national park...

I've never been to Yosemite, but judging from the Rand McNally it looks like the part of the park where people stay; a ski area; two giant redwood groves; and four waterfalls all lie within the coverage area of this translator.

It also looks on the map like this populated area of the park is badly terrain-limited.

According to http://www.v-soft.com/ZipSignal/zip_answer.asp (the ZIP code of Yosemite National Park is 95389) KSKS-93.7 is the ONLY FM station that delivers a 60dBu signal, except for four translators... (there are three other translators at the same site & with identical facilities) Seeing the possible terrain limitations, IMHO it's very possible KSKS is not in fact receivable in the park, which would make the translators the only FM service...
