K233BU / KMIH-FM / hotjams

Anyone notice that the 94.5 translator is back on capital hill? It is translating KMIH-FM (88.9) onto the 94.5 signal.

I was wondering where urban flavor on 94.5 came from. It seemed like it was a good DX from 94.5 in Vancouver. Guess I was wrong!

While talking about high school stations, when is KASB going to update their people so they say the correct dial position? Now that it's not first adjacent to KNHC, it actually reaches effectively into Seattle.

It wonder if KASB is putting out more juice than they are allowed, I noticed they are coming in quite well in downtown Seattle, noticeably better than KMIH ever did from a lower site, further away... very interesting.

As for 94.5, it seems to be covering downtown seattle like a wet blanket. I drove around a bit and the only place it is not perfect is the north side of queen anne hill where Vancouver cuts in some. The translator also manages to preserve the fidelity of the KMIH main channel pretty well which is not too surprising given the translator is not actually demodulating the audio (the receiver has an IF output that is feeding the exciter). Now to finish mounting the receive antenna for that translator to get rid of the tad bit of noise in the signal (the RX antenna is sitting on the KUOW/KCTS building roof right now).

We seriously got no comments on the coverage of 94.5? That is amazing. I would love to hear some feedback.
