Las Vegas K246BK 97.1 translator Moapa NV - Can it move to Vegas

nd2023

Banned
A few months ago this translator was donated to Scott Gentry, owner of KJUL and Kool 102. Any ideas on what could eventually be put on the K246BK translator? It would definitely need to change its frequency if it were to move closer to Las Vegas. Would it even be possible to move it to Vegas?

Moapa is pretty far from LV. It would take a number of minor modifications to get it there assuming there was an open channel (which I don't see), at least with any sizable coverage. If there was a path, one would assume it would already be closer to the valley.

What if the play is actually to add HD to KJUL and put a subchannel on K246BK, say a simulcast of Kool 102.3?

Why? It's just a copy of KKLZ. If you want music the Jewel plays just go down to 96.3. Don't worry about flipping from 104.7 to another frequency.

I was listening to KJUL last night as I was driving home to Mesquite. I noticed that station doesn't have an identity. They say "Easy Favorites" then play Eye of the Tiger, Escapade, September etc. I don' think of those songs as "Easy Favorites". Those 40 year old jingles sound tired. Then the Jewel shares about 50% of their music with KOOL. They are owned by the same company right? They have beefed up the 80's music which KKLZ does already. Why would someone switch off KKLZ and go to KJUL? I guess that's the question I'm trying to ask. The signal alone is a turn off in Vegas. I get it clear where I live but it's just a confusing station.
