Facility ID No. 138120
Notification of License Cancellation
Dear Licensee:
This letter is to inform you that the license of Station K259CN, Sacramento, California (Station), licensed to Best Media, Inc. (Best Media), has expired pursuant to Section 312(g) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended (Act).1 On December 8, 2021, we sent you a letter stating that our records indicated that the Station had been off the air since at least July 24, 2020. 2 Best Media was required to clarify this matter in writing within forty-five days of the date of the Letter. To date we have received no response.3 Therefore, the Commission's public and internal databases HAVE BEEN MODIFIED to indicate that the broadcast license for the referenced station is EXPIRED, that the station's license is CANCELLED as a matter of law, and that the station's call sign is DELETED. The license renewal application for the Station, File No. 153582, is also DISMISSED.

It weirdly sounds like that since the station was already off, they either wanted to go off for good, or they forgot to reapply for an STA

Legally you can't be off the air for more than one year, STA or not. There are multiple instances of stations signing on for a few days to satisfy the requirement to be on, then go silent again for 360 days or whatever. Usually it's a situation where the owner doesn't have enough capital to actually operate the station, or their sole purpose in getting the license in the 1st place was to try to turn it around & sell it at a huge profit, which often doesn't happen. It's a shame. Not a great signal, and it's 1st adjacent to K-love at 99.5, but could have possibly been moved to 100.1 and served a little pocket of Sacramento. Ironic, but if there were a filing window for it right now I'm sure there would be dozens of applicants.
