K276EL 103.1 San Marcos

Did it sign off, or move to Austin? I am hearing 103.1 simulcasting AM 1300 the Zone (KVET AM) instead of Air1 radio. Anybody know?

They are in the process of moving it to the Austin tower farm. The application for the move has been filed.

Not a bad idea because the 1300 signal sucks at night. I only wish the programming on The Zone was better. :-\

I take it that 103.1 is not able to upgrade to at least a Class A station.

Will the 103.1 frequency at the antenna farm, interfere with Bob FM at 103.5? Because Bob's tower is near Buda, and the 103.5 signal is already mediocre in Williamson County.

There's a story on Austin360 about KDRP 103.1 in Dripping Springs complaining to the FCC about intereference from 103.1 after it moved from San Marcos to Buda. What business does EMF have leasing to a sportstalk AM anyway? How does that fit into the K-Love mission? What about their ministry to the Texas State crowd in San Marcos with the Air 1 format? I guess the students weren't responding with suffcient donations?

You would think Bob FM would not be very happy with that, especially if it's in Buda.

And KDRP may still have problems when EMF/CC's 103.1 completes its move to West Lake Hills. I don't know what the rules are regarding translators protecting LPFMs.

KXAN had a story about 103.1 and KDRP today on the 9:00 news. KDRP says it's taken 25% of its listening audience. A statement from CC says KDRP can basically go jump in the lake.

What I mean is, what was the parent station when it was Air1?

And why do we need another talk station in Austin?

Give me a break. KDRP-LP is a whole 5 watts. That's just not going to get out very far evan if the HAAT is 449 feet. Any fringe coverage is gravy. It is not guaranteed.

Exactly I can think of a lot of translators around that interfere with San antonio, that are in Austin.

I was in Austin and the Hill Country at the end of May and made a point of listening to KDRP along Highway 290. The signal actually got out about 14-15 miles both east and west of Dripping Springs. On the east side I didn't completely lose the signal until the 290/Loop 1 intersection.

The 103.1 translator in the Austin tower farm will kill KDRP. Time for yet another frequency change? At least they still have the simulcast on 100.1, which gets out quite well over much the same area west of Austin.

I heard the new 103.1 signal coming in very well in Austin earlier. I guess they've moved and are back on now.

I am curious as to how CCR/EMF got the move to Westlake granted a day before the application went on public notice ???

Also, If they are interfering with the Horn, they are most likely creating intermod with KROX
2*103.1=206.2 and 206.2-101.5=104.7
Try listening on 104.7 and see if you hear both stations with KVET's audio twice as loud as KROX.

I can hear the translator in Taylor pretty well. I was wanting to listen to KSSM and heard sports talk instead. Oh well. :)

Not so good on my car radio on Manchaca Rd between Wm Cannon and Slaughter lane. Maybe they're directional to protect Dripping Spings?
