Thanks for the info UNREGISTERED GUEST. Yeah, another one of these bogus translator licenses. Just spoke to Mike in engineering at CBS here in Houston. They know nothing about it.

Media Frog, just like K254BZ involving Salem, when I contacted the head engineer it was the first that anybody at CBS Radio (KLOL) had heard of this translator license. They have sent an email to their legal department about it. What has happened here is that when the translator filing window opened up way back when, a small number of communications lawyers (most out of the same law office) submitted hundreds of license applications on behalf of their clients. If you go digging on the CDBS, you will see the applications contain the following question:

For applicants proposing translator rebroadcasts that are not the licensee of the primary station, the applicant certifies that written authority has been obtained from the licensee of the station whose programs are to be retransmitted. If No, this application is unacceptable for filing. Click on small image below.

Apparently these lawyers committed perjury, just randomly selecting stations for the translator license applications (without the stations' knowledge or permission). In many cases, the applications also referenced coordinates of towers that exist, but whom they never bothered to ask the owner to use.
