K38IZ-D launchs subchannels

Is there now a 38-4?

- Trip

Yes - just started this week. It seems to be mainly Christian videos. The channel is billed as IZ Hope. Ironic that the channel that not too long ago was notorious for racy used car commercials now airs Christian content.

Strictly low-budget stuff, but you gotta give them points for trying.

I just rescanned the channels on my DTV converter, and there's no
38-anything. What am I doing wrong?

I'm in the 'Tuke, only 4 or 5 miles (line of sight) to South Mountain,
and the K38IZ-D coverage maps in the FCC TV Query show their
signal getting out a lot further than five miles.

Still getting KAZT-DT 7.1/7.2 and KTTU-DT 18 fine. Should I also
be able to get KTAZ-DT 39 come "flash cut Tuesday"?

K38IZ-D is a bit tricky to get, even not too far from South Mountain. I'm thinking that they might be diplexing 53 analog and 38 digital through the same antenna, which may be causing some propagation problems with 38 digital.

As for 38.3, they're still playing the same two dozen videos they started out with last week, in the same order, over and over again, while trying to break the cycle with the two 30-minute infomercials they have in rotation.

I noticed 38.4 too, and I thought it was odd for them to be airing Christian content, given their past history of programs. They must be trying out different niches for the subchannels to see what sticks. What's next for 38.5, the "IZ Automall?"

I would expect it, and who knows? maybe that will help K38IZ as well if KTAZ's digital signal cuts adjacent channel interference.

I can get 38-DT here in Fashionable South Tempe but there seems to be a lot of pixelation. Not too watchable. I'm line-of-sight to South Mountain with a roof antenna.

I'm not seeing it on any of my TVs. Either they were testing and have ended it, or that's just the way your TV picks it up. They have stated their intention to run 5 subchannels eventually.

38.5 is gone now.
