KAAY 1090 Little Rock Off The Air

Amazing how many of us non-Chicago types listened to WLS back in the day.

Used to listen to them all the time in Pittsburgh, back in their Top 40 days.
Came in strong as local after sundown and I'd often flip over there if 13Q wasn't
playing anything to my liking.

On the Northeast PA forum of Radio-Info, there is some thread of about 118,000 responses long, about bringing back WARM Scranton -- the 'Mighty 590'.
WARM has those copper issues and signal degradation problems. And in 2013, it's in a lousy neighborhood. It's on AM, you see.

I'm glass-half-empty here. If WKBW 1520 couldn't pack the house when they went Oldies several years back, things don't seem to be coming up roses for WARM and KAAY.

But KAAY has had some recent cash-flow affluence with the preacher stuff. Maybe Family Radio could use a monster AM signal soon ?

I chalked up XEMCA- Tampico, TA the other night on 1090. I heard very weak 'Romantica' music, which matched the webstream. At 1,563 miles, they're definitely one of my better logs in all of my AM DX'ing.

I'm also hearing an oldies station on 1090 while bearing SW. Is this the Monterrey station?

And congrats to kilocat for getting Tijuana!! I tried that night, to no avail.

That wouldn't be any real improvement.

Having an all preaching format isn't the problem as much as when the station management allows any crackpot on that flashes enough money in their faces regardless of how bad their theology is, and the almighty dollar is more important than ministry, which us where KAAY was.

I've been listening for 1090 Seattle around their sunset time, I think I have a chance because just before KAAY went silent, I made a prayer donation to one of the holy men preaching shows. ;D

If you are also on a quest for 1090 Seattle, albeit without God on your side, please note that they just dumped the low-ratings-in-every-city-and-very-boring progressive format :'(, and are now KFNQ - "1090 The Fan" - carrying the new CBS Sports format.

For anyone gunning for XEPRS on 1090, try listening for the Mexican National Anthem at 0200 UTC. It stands out on the channel and usually begins about 0158 UTC. I've been hearing it nightly, but usually weak.
