KABC on iHeartRadio!

What a surprise to find KABC's stream is on Clear Channel's iHeartRadio app. So they've got that going for them. What other non-CC stations are on there? It must be a good deal for KABC not having to host their own streaming service. Guess they figure if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

A whole bunch of other broadcast owners have signed with iHeart including Cumulus and Univision Radio...

Bug on the Rug is correct: KABC still sucks. It is just worse and worse and worse. One thought that KABC programming could not fall into the ditch more than it has but then Doug McIntyre returned from vacation. His program (using the term loosely) is an absolute mess. A mess! The mumbling, giggling sidekick is...well, you listen.

So, no one from Cumulus took me up on my challenge to listen to two randomly selected hours of the John Phillips fiasco.

I would issue the same challenge to them regarding the "McIntryre Mess in the Morning." Shockingly bad for a show in the Los Angeles market.

So, app here, app there, Internet streaming, over the air - whatever. As I have said before, bad programming is bad programming. Get the programming right and people in Los Angeles will listen, notwithstanding station power, interference, tech issues. Enough people exist here to bring KABC back onto the top twenty. I acknowledge that the top ten is not realistic. But 33rd is, to be kind, not good.

McIntrye is back. The titular captain of the Titanic is back. He is speaking at a quicker pace. He just wants, I guess, for the time to pass. It has. It's over.

I hope they (I Heart) fix the problems they're having like KLOS being in mono while the KLOS app and other sources have it in stereo.

I hope they fix the problem where all the Cumulus stations sound choppy and are constantly rebuffering on Android phones.

The audio on some of the Cumulus stations are horrible. Only benefit about them being on iHeartRadio is the buffering. KCHZ would take a long time to play on Tune Inn but now its somewhat better.

I suppose that's what happens when you hand over control of your stream to your direct competitor.

IIRC from other related iHeart deals, CC is just an amalgamator her, providing the interface for users to select the streams they wish to hear.

While that may be the case with some, other contracts have the client pushing traffic to Clear Channel's CDN. That however only accounts for buffering and quality of service. If the stream source sounds like crap it will continue to sound like crap. Garbage in, garbage out.

Every broadcaster are on Tunein except CC.

Tunein doesn't have FM stations from CBS, just the AMs. :(
