I am not in the market, so I am unable to listen to KAB with any regularity, but I do look at the Neilsen's when they come out.

KABC has a freekin' 0.6? ZERO-Point-Six?!?!

Cumulus can't put SOMETHING/ANYTHINMG on that gets more audience than Salem's Crappy talk shows on KRLA? Or KEIB?

I know AM is in trouble...but there are people listening to sports on AM and KFI seems to be keeping afloat...so I assume there are listeners on AM to poach!

WHat is going on at KABC?

KEIB is 50,000 watts days and 44,000 night. KRLA is 50 kw day, 3 kw night. Both are superior to KABC in signal.

The areas that KABC covers best are highly ethnic, with a shortage of old white conservatives.

The facility might be useful for some type of Asian programming or even Russian or Farsi.

A part of KFI's rise to dominance came from the vast inferiority of the KABC signal and rising noise levels couple with ongoing urban sprawl away from the KABC signal.

Nothing. They made about $90 million when they sold the property under their tower on La Cienega. That ought to cover them for a while.

They're currently operating from shared studios in Culver City. The costs are very low. It gives them an LA clear for their national spots and shows.

Interesting but who do you think are the candidates that will air (Asian programming or even Russian or Farsi) to get 790 AM if Cumulus decides to sell KABC Radio? EMF is off the list because they have 100.3 FM for Los Angeles and EMF is still waiting for approval with WPLJ, WYAY and KFFG in other parts of the country.
 
At this point isnt 790 Kabc just a liability to cumulus? They have to be an anchor around there neck. I know they got the money from sellin the property but seems hard to believe they make much revenue with the less then stellar programming that they have. They would have been better off in the long run selling kabc then plj in new york. Sure plj is worth alot more but gettin rid of dead weight which kabc is would be a good thing.

EMF does not operate AM stations... on the occasions when an FM came with an AM, they got rid of it like a hot potato.

Once again, they clear national commercials in LA. That's important. They clear a number of Cumulus syndicated hosts, most notably LA Based Ben Shapiro. So no. Right now they provide an important service. Plus who would buy a 6KW AM station? Nobody.

My view is the problem is technical, not programming. There's nothing technical they can do to improve their signal.

Once again, it's a 6kw AM station competing against 50kw stations.

Lots of people complain about all of the hosts at KFI. It doesn't matter. They attract an audience. KABC can't because its signal sucks.

Go back to what I said in post #14. I stand by that answer.
