Yep staff was told last week that at the end of July KABL-FM is bye bye. New owners plan something new.

It was pretty well known that Coast was going to do something different with 92.1, but does this mean that Clear Channel will also end the standards format on KABL-AM and on the Internet? Are Jim Lange, Clark Reid and Carter B. Smith being pink-slipped, too?

Different....hmmmmm, well, if you wanna call an exact simulcast of KKIQ and KUIC's playlist on the 92.1 freq., then yeah it's different. sort of.

No...They are blowing out everyone...Very sad.

What I wrote was that Coast would be doing something different than what Clear Channel was doing at 92.1 -- as Coast won't be doing the KABL adult standards format, I would say that whatever they are doing would be different.

Also, KKIQ and KUIC are not simulcast. They have the same playlist, but that does not constitute a simulcast.

Why does everyone always ask either that question or "Mainstream CHR" whenever a station changes hands?

Really! I get KKIQ loud and clear in San Lorenzo. I guess Carter B. Smith, Jim Lang will retire, if somebody else picks up that format. At least we still have KCEA-FM 89.1 in Atherton playing Big Band music 24/7.

That's because KKIQ has a booster atop cal state hayward, it can almost cover union city/fremont. they also have a tracy, walnut creek booster.

Maybe for Jim Lange and Carter B. Smith. Who's Clark Reid?

Clark Reid is the program director and midday announcer at KABL.

Isn't that what he said? Or did you think "program director" meant something else?

The 92.1 signal in Walnut Creek is really jammed in..There is bad multipath even in WC and Concord! This freq should have been shut down or vice versa with the 92.1 signal from Placerville. Sometimes I wonder if anyone realizes how lousy it is to have 2 92.1 signals so close together.

I get KBDB in Vallejo and as I drive down into Fairfield at about West Texas suddenly KABL-FM cuts in...then shortly after leaving Fairfield it is a dogfight between the 2 stations all the way to Davis.

When I drove through WC/Concord I could not believe how bad the KABL-FM signal really was... what a waste of a frequency....

No That's not what he(BossRadioDJ) said. If you looked at it correctly, DJ wrote Clark Reid is the program director and midday announcer at KABL. And Paul was focusing on the verb IS and not the title. The original topic of the thread in a nutshell was KABL FM will be no longer and Paul was correcting the verb. Yes CR is the PD but if there isn't a station...he WAS the PD. I can't believe this needs clarifying.
