KACC question..

Wiki says KACC did in fact begin on 91.3.

Why did they move? Probably to upgrade. Broadcasting Yearbook says they were only 800 watts on 91.3. Wiki says they're now 5,600 watts on 89.7.

That's right. KACC was pretty much maxed out on 91.3, mainly because of Lamar University's station in Beaumont; KVLU had been operating on 91.3 with 40,000 watts for several years. KACC's switch to 89.7 was first approved in late 1991 but it took a little more than two years to be officially completed.

I clearly remember the old 91-3 KACC. Didn't it swap frequencies around the same time KSBJ made its move from 88.1 to 89.3? I would've sworn KACC's move was a part of that whole switcharoo.

From what I can tell, KACC's upgrade was separate from KSBJ's. Here's what happened in that neighborhood of the non-comm band:

1981 - KSBJ gets its original 88.1 construction permit
1987 - KSBJ gets the CP to move to 89.3
1990 - KTRU gets the CP to go up to class C2 and move to Kingwood
1991 - KACC gets the CP to change frequency to move to 89.7
1993 - KACC files for an extension on the CP
1994 - KACC files for the license to cover (it's on the air at 89.7)
