KADD

I was listening to KADD Logandale the other day, and I thought: Does anybody actually listen to this? Their signal mostly covers empty desert--I can't imagine where there'd be an Asian community to hear it.

93.5 FM... I stumble across it now and then, don't have any interest in China news and other programming. I just check to see if it "on" .

That signal seems like a real waste of money. Not sure how they are getting any income. Maybe the Chinese network pays a boatload of money to KADD to broadcast their programming.

When I was a kid I used to listen to China Radio International and Radio Moscow broadcasting propaganda on shortwave...who knew that in 2012 you could just turn on your FM table radio and hear Red Chinese propaganda! Small world.

I listened to it a little bit when I was out there. Surprisingly decent signal in most parts of the city I visited.

And yes, China Radio International is paying LOTS of money to broadcast their programming to not just LV, but LA, Honolulu, Houston, Washington, SF, and probably about a half-dozen markets I don't know about. I have also not heard a single commercial on there, either.

It makes OK sense I suppose...whereas 20 years ago many the high rollers in Vegas were executives from the western world...now Vegas is a "status symbol" for the many high-roller executives from China, S Korea, and the middle east who have gotten bored with the gaming or entertainment in Macau, Singapore, or Australia. Question is, why is most of it in English? That boggles my mind...unless they are focusing solely on propaganda as Radio Moscow did with the 24 hr english service from Cuba in the 80's. If you notice, CRI's SW signals BOOM onto most of both coasts on numerous frequencies 24/7 nowadays. 10 years ago I don't remember that...
