KADD

Las Vegas – Eric Palacido’s Radio Activo Broadcasting files a $450,000 deal to buy Chinese-language “iCity Radio 93.5” KADD (93.5) from James Su. The deal includes a $350,000 promissory note. Radio Activo Broadcasting already owns Spanish CHR “94.5 Exa FM” KXLI in the market.

Is that a fair price ?

The seller paid $1.5 million.

So he took a bath, but i dont think there was much revenue at all.. none of the icity stations i dont think ever ran commercials.. and a station sale price is somewhat dependent on revenue

i do think the seller overpaid, its a pretty poor signal in vegas

The station's 60 dbu barely hits the NW edge of the market. It is a rimshot, and not a very good one. They can't even (were a frequency available) get a booster as the signal would not really be improved as it comes in from the northwest and covers lots of coyotes and snakes.

However, this station shares a transmitter site with the buyer's other station, KXLI, so there may be hidden economies in this.

In the current environment in Las Vegas, perhaps the most affected by the pandemic in the whole country, is terrible for a radio station and worse for Hispanics. I don't think that the station can be profitable going forward.... but the buyer is a big event promoter in the Hispanic community so he may be able to make the station indirectly beneficial in the future.
