KAFE 98.1 TO KABL.

KAFE was put on the air from downtown Oakland by Daniel Xavier Soto on July 17, 1958. It was sold to Hal Cox in May 1959, and Cox sold it to Gordon McLendon (McLendon Pacific) on April 8, 1965, for $200,000.
McLendon took over the station in May 1965, at which time KAFE became KABL-FM.
