KAGM PD???

I have yet to see anywhere who they hired? or did they do the old run an AD and promote from with in? I also hear that revenue is so bad with no ratings after a book and a half that they have no dollars to spend.

Now I see they are looking for a news director, most news talkers do that before they go on air. I look for them to promote one of their little girl news readers to the position and pay little mooola.

Thats how I see it as I over look the duke city from my perch in beautiful downton

Do us a favor, as you sit on your perch, turn around face away from your computer so we aren't subjected to your negative spew.

Hey Dr.Phil what is negative???
Fact I have not seen or heard of a New PD.
Fact I have been told by insiders that Revenue is WAY below expectations.
Fact All Broadcasters these days hire young inexperienced talent because they
can't get real pros to work for such small salaries.

Question Dr. Phil, If I say New orleans will take awhile to rebuild is that FACT or in your interpertation is that being negative.

Fact: Why are you so concerned with AGM?
Fact: Listening to the station says there's no business.
Fact: You position yourself on a perch looking down on AGM.

Why do the above fact concern you so much?

-Dr. Phil

The guy might be too focused on KAGM, but
its fascinating to watch a poorly launched
and executed format crash and burn. By the
way, it was not the former PD, but the
GM's talent hires that spelled doom on
the project. Morning show is weak, TV
chick is worse.

And I apologize for sounding harsh, but the fact that a PD was named is well known. Chris Jackson even has refered to the fact on-air. So the constant hounding on the fact seems dumb. They can name who they want without the EEO thing.

The concept of Talk Fm is okay, but your right, execution was lacking, even for this market. The morning schtick is old already, as it was on KKOB when Larry bailed. Gotta agree on midday, and afternoon is okay with Chris. Red Menace is out of place. Haven't listened beyond that.
All in all, a pretty weird presentation.
Can it be salvaged? Any thoughts?

This whole lifestyle talk trend is putting stations out of business. Recent examples I followed include KNRC/Denver and KFNX/Phoenix. Both thought they could compete with the markets' heritage talk stations with bland, feature-heavy, TVesque chatty morning shows and wishy-washy hosts throughout the day. Guess what, as predicted, KNRC was sold and is Spanish, and KFNX narrowly escaped forced sale and went back to a successful brokered format.

Live and local is great, but talent and content will rule. I figure here in Phoenix we could get decent talent because of market size and weather, but no one takes advantage of it. Use weather to your advantage and scout the country out for local talkers if that's what you want. Lose Ahrens (nobody ever told him "the station is the star"?), the TV chic, and that grating midday guy. Don't try to compete with sports; ditch NMSU and offer stimulating talk for those who don't want sports on KKOB.

Since there's not enough local talk to keep people listening, you'll need some good syndie hosts... too bad 1050 already locked anybody of importance in their strategic plan.

Amen my Brothers.
Sorry bout the PD thing. I have never heard Chris mention that on air and I have never seen it online anywhere. KAGM bought into the Larry is everything speel, which longtime market and overall radio pros know That KOB has been around 50+ years and was the Talk News station before Larry and will be after Larry.

Chris Jackson is NOT the KAGM PD

Chris Jackson is not the new KAGM PD. I don't know why some people keep insisting that he is.

The current PD of KAGM is Scott "Scooter" Sherwood, who is also the PD of Big Oldies.

If you don't beleive me then call the AGM main office number at 878-0980 and ask them yourself.
