Music on AM....now why didn't Nurse Jeff and I think of that? And how long does anyone give The Lounge Sound on KPHX 14~Eighty? Probably as long as it takes the current owners to sign another LMA with a colon blower..or Bible thumper..or the Valley's 29th Spanish station!

The Lounge Sound, really? Maybe it's time to break out the leisure suit and the lava lamp. Do they do anything special at 4:20? ;)

The Lounge Sound? As in live DJ "Larry the Lounge Lizard"? That might work, and take some heat off The Kuy-Oh-Tay.

Memo to KPHX: you're getting a stereo feed, and since you're not
transmitting in stereo you need to fold L+R together into one mono
channel for air.

It was very obvious during the Route 66 song at about 5:40pm that
you were passing either the L or the R only (vocals buried).

Unless you are getting it that way from the source, which is a bad way
of doing radio syndication. ???

Akkie, you don't have a true world view. They could always hire Jerry Atrik and give 1230 a run for it's money. Is there still music on FM? it's hard to tell with 20 minute commercial sets

Just wait for PPM to reward those Valley stations still clutter-phu@#ing the dial....they'll go down faster than the Xmas Tree at the Buckeye Media Hut! Gotta tell you, it's hard to take Martini In The Morning seriously in AMD, let alone PMD!

Bring back Gary Coleman & All Comedy Radio!

Does this station play Martinis in the Morning? I used to hear that man on 690 AM from Mexico a few years ago. I like the lounge sound radio. I tried to use the computer to listen to that KPHX on the computer here, but it makes the stream come from 1190 NOVA whatever that is. Doe they really play Martinis? He was very smooth. I also found an oldies station in Yuma on the computer from Grant New Mexico it is very good also.

I got a run from the Hoagland Bros two weeks ago, and drove a small truck (that is all they will let me drive for now) from here to El Paso, Tesax. It was really nice to be driving again and to hear some radio stations. Have you ever eaten at a place called Rods' Steakhouse? It is in Williams, and was very very nice. I had a waitress named Luanne. I think she liked me so I gave her a nice tip and I had a sirloin steak and a salad. The steak hung off the plate too. Hello to Dr. Akubar! One day we will meet up somewhere for a nice meal. I am not supposed to have steak, but I don't eat the potatoe. You are all very nice friends to have.

thank you

Howard

No need to apologize...we wuz just being our usual wise-ass selves. The door to the Media Hut is always open, Howard...just wheel on in!

I wouldn't be surprised if Howard tried out his "White Line Fever" on your media hut! There's 18 wheels and they is huntin' fer yew!!! <heh heh heh> We'll see if that Gremmie can outrun a Mack. ;D

YIKES!

We better call Wonderful Russ and get this hut listed for a quick sale...nothin' more sickening than the smell of diesel on your fez!

Howard......don't quit posting! I for one look forward to your comments. Nice to see what an outsider has to say about local radio...

I now see what you are so mad ad me about. I didn't know that you spelled your name Dr. Akbar without a U. I see it now, and I am so very sorry. It seems like people who don't care about other people very much spell names wrong and send Christmas gifts after New Years are everywhere, and I am not that sort of person. I have a sister who lives in Maryland who sends all of her gifts after Christmas and it's kind of like "hey, you are not so important to me that I can break up my busy day and send your gift you you so you will have it by Christmas, so here it is" you see?

I sent her a nice bird house that an indian fellow made and she never said thank you or anything. She is always a thorn in our side. I think I may not send her back anything next year.

Does Martini in the Morning really play over the air there. I know he has a computer and can stream sometimes. His name is Brad I think.

thak you

Howard.

Howard,

Dr. Ak-u-bar has been known to have a Martini in the Morning now and again. Those are the days he uses the Media Hut dartboard, along with guidance from Nurse Jeff, to forecast his valuations.

Nurse Jeff is at the urgent care facility as we speak receiving treatment for some undisclosed puncture wounds suffered at the last valuation meeting.

No problema, mi amigo...in fact I've given a lot of thought to changing my name to Ak-u-bar. With the loss of Ed Phillips at KT'R, perhaps the Master Blogger would consider hiring me for "Akubar Weather" - semi-accurate and always done from the Media Hut bar!

Yes indeedy....in fact we suspect Kah Pay Ach-A Eck-Ees is taking the feed right off the net with little interest in combining the left and right channel audio. Their levels are more wacked than the walls of a foreclosed Scottsdale house!

Your welcme

Dr Akubar

The Martini guy is saying 1480 KPHX on his internet show. Did he buy that radio station? He must be rolling in money by now.

thank you

I much prefer the original branding. Akbar, in addition to being an invention of Matt Groening's twisted mind, is LA's premier gay bar. Leave well enough alone!

Now, back to the show.

My favorite episode of Gilligan's Island is "The Producer" staring real-life producer Phil Silvers as Harold Hecuba (Hec-u-ba).

When I first noticed Dr. Akbar and his Silvers-like sense of humor I thought it wouldn't be a big stretch to nickname him with the "u" inside.

Still seems to fit.

BTW, I wouldn't be mentioning gay bars in the beautiful oasis of Buckeye. Buckeye - that little down where, in any bar, you can walk in and order a beer and a fistfight.

I hear the Media Hut has it's own Kegerator so visits to the local watering holes are not necessary.
