KAHM FM 102.1 and translator K269 EE at 101.7

Early this morning, both the main transmitter and translator were
up and operating normally. About 11:30am the translator went off
the air with the main transmitter operating normally. In the early
afternoon, the translator was back, operating normally but the main
station is sending out incredible noise along with the signal. Both
transmitter and translator are sending out about their usual signal
strength. Cannot help but wonder if this might be the long delayed
main transmitter move to near Crown King/Bumble Bee.

That sounds entirely possible. New COL is Spring Valley as KAHM becomes another Valley rimshot from Towers Mountain. Here at the Buckeye Media Hut, we're waiting to hear who buys it and pulls the plug on Elevator Music.

102-1 The Zone has a nice ring to it.

KZNE-FM is available (with permission of KZNE-AM in College Station, Tejas) But with PPM, does it really matter what the calls are?

I'm guessing riviera may be buying 102.1 and putting those calls there?

The rumor I heard back when they buried the calls on 103.9 was they were being parked there in anticipation of purchasing KAHM when it goes up for sale.

Whether Riviera actually buys the station or not remains to be seen.

Calls did not matter much in the diary, either. About 80% of diary mentions in major markets like Phoenix were for the frequency or some combination of frequency and station name or talent name.

Calls are only mentioned in diaries on stations that use them as the principal identifier. So if you use the calls a log, they will get written in a diary. If they are just used once an hour, they won't. So it's mostly an ancient modulation thing.
