Mr. Eduardo,

Do you have a connection with the station(s) and the switch? Is there a backstory that you can share?

Thanks for letting everyone know!

D.J.

ADD: The switchover actually came out closer to 10:05 ... but who's counting?

Re: Notes on the "La Kalle" format...

From Univision Radio's press release regarding the launch of “La Kalle 105.9/92.7FM” in New York (May 27):

{snip}
New York, NY -- Univision Radio, the largest Spanish-language radio broadcaster in the United States, today launched “La Kalle 105.9/92.7 FM,” a new youth-targeted Spanish-language radio station that will cater to New York Hispanics in the highly sought-after 18-34 demographic.

La Kalle’s high-energy format will primarily feature Reggaeton and Latin Hip-Hop music. Reggaeton, a relatively new genre of dance music that originated in Puerto Rico and derives from a blend of Latin tropical sounds, Jamaican reggae music and urban hip-hop, has taken the New York market by storm. A recent Nielsen SoundScan report of Latin Album sales found that 8 out of the top 10 albums sold in the New York area were of Reggaeton music. Reggaeton is hotter in New York than in any other major U.S. city.

Univision hasn't issued the press release on La Kalle 100.7/105.7 yet, so exchange place names and frequencies as needed to make this a local story...

Re: Notes on the "La Kalle" format...

Any reaction to the flip to Kalle? Are they doing strictly spanish speaking jocks/imaging or is there a "spanglish" combo going on? Univision Fresno, which flipped the other day, is running spanglish imaging, but spanish only spots at this point.
