According to All Access, a few buyers have stepped forward

Yeah, Austex, Hormel, Stagg and Castleberry's have all submitted offers. (insert indigestion emoticon here)

(Surely you fellow radio historians will "get" this one...)

Really?!? Will there be a Seconds-and-Surplus location set up in the basement? (Those that listen to WBAP on the weekend will "get" that one.)

Good for him. David once worked there at KAND with WBAP traffic reporter Alan Barnes and KDOK's Paul Berry. Suppose David will resurrect the Kan-D-Land moniker, or use the old "The Tower With The Most Music Power"?

David Yates has purchased the station.

Hmmm...I wonder if he'll play any songs by David Yates and Bread??? ;>)

FYI David took his home improvement show to syndication and KLIF a couple of years ago. Check their website for details. Wonder if that's working out as well for him as it did the Dirt Doctor vaulting for Salem and KSKY? :-\

How big of a doofus is that Northland suit who said they didn't think of selling the station until interested buyers started calling as a result of the newspaper article? Oh...guess that's a rhetorical question. Sorry!

Northland is alot like how susquehanna was when in the radio game, They dont think much when it comes to product but will take all bidders in a fire sale situation.

KAND has served the community well over the years, while not everyone listened every day-- most would have missed it at times, whether it was local election returns, Corsicana High Friday Night Football or Navarro College Saturday Football or listening to morning news because you might learn what was going with your neighbors.

I wish the Yates Brothers well with their future.

My parents live in near-by hubbard and I used to have an airshift over at KYCX-Mexia. I love the fact KAND has kept it close to the community with programming like the on-air garage sale, friday night HS football and local religious prorgramming. Too bad big city radio doesnt take a lesson from these smaller town indies. I have a feeling the Yates Bros will keep the spirit alive plus, pardon the expression, live and local.

Yeah, I know. Old thread but...

I worked at KAND from '82 until '95 (off & on, sometimes Full-Time sometimes Part-Time). I was pretty dismayed when they announced that it was being shut down. Subsequently, I was very pleased to read that it would be bought by the Yates brothers.

I wish them, the best! :)

And don't forget the daily Hospital Report! LOL
