Bubba did an AC/DC song of the day, if I remember correctly. He didn't start doing this until very late in his time at WFLZ, perhaps in 1996 or so. In addition, Bubba seemed to have carte blanche concerning playlists. I have tapes to prove it.
As much as I also want to defend WFLZ, Major, they are such a disappointment compared to their glory days as the Power Pig. Back in the early to mid-1990s, WFLZ was the best CHR in the United States. Sure they were raunchy, but that was part of their appeal. Moreover, as the Power Pig, they had the most ridiculous amount of variety I have ever heard on a CHR. Bubba the Love Sponge used to play AC/DC!
I see your point, but by the same token Miami's Y-100, Melbourne's 107.1-A1A, Orlando's XL-106.7, and Jacksonville's BIG APE are relative 'disappointments' nowadays compared to all of their respective glory days.
Regarding THE POWER PIG I was fortunate enough to live and work in Tampa (MacDill AFB) for about 7 months in 1993 into 1994. That was during the early days of M.J. & B.J. in the morning and Bubba at night. I do remember hearing AC/DC's signature smash "You Shook Me All Night Long" (in its entirety) quite a few times on his show at night. The Pig was nationally-renown at the time for its harsh style and brash edginess. I was sad to leave it behind when I returned to living here in Miami-Dade County (post Hurricane Andrew) when Y-100 was still in its too-safe 'no hard rock / hip hop / rap' HOT-A.C. mode. (That all changed in January 1996 when Y-100 finally reinvented itself.)

As a big FLZ fan, I must say that I'm not too thrilled seeing Kane leave. However, many people may not realize how talented the guy is for his age. He's not even 30 years old, yet he's worked on air (and as an APD) in Tampa for many years, on satellite radio nationwide, and is now in D.C. How many other DJ's have that kind of a resume at such a young age? Very few. I expect him to have made a pretty big name for himself on a national level in about 5-10 years.
