I hope the whatever format you and Greg have chosen will be unique, in the sense that your station does not sound like every one else on the dial. To bad that I won't be able to receive the Quake here in Seattle. But a real AC (not a CHR clone) would be nice too. '93-7 KLSY'...now I'm getting nostalgic. BTW, what's going to happen with the 107.9 allotment at South Bend? Will the FCC reissue it at a latter date?

I wonder if Bill has been receiving complaints from local listeners who cannot pick up the 107.3 [future KANY] signal. When KANY first signed on, they operated at a much higher power than 4,100 watts if I remember correctly. I want to say they broadcasted from Cosmopolis Hill with an ERP of somewhere in the neighbourhood of 11,000 to 14,000 watts when they first signed on, but do not quote me on that. I don't remember! If I am right, I assume that there are many listeners in north and west Grays Harbour County who are hearing static on the 107.3 frequency instead of a clear signal. Perhaps the new "Bigfoot Country" will boost their signal eventually, and "The Quake" will go back to 107.9
I don't believe "The Quake" was very popular in Aberdeen as the 107.9 KLSY tower was in Raymond, behind large hills that block FM signals. Was it a better classic rock radio station than KDUX (as well as every other classic rocker in the area)?

I found the format on KLSY to be better that KDUX. Last I heard the Quake, there was quite a bit of variety in their selection.Lots of Van Halen (which is great for me

103.9 should work nicely. I wonder if Quake will pop back up with the same configuration (i.e, tower near Raymond, low in wattage) or if they are going to expand to Cosmpolis Hill and raise the ERP. Apparently, Bill is also in the process of installing HD equipment to KSWW. It sounds like Jodesha broadcasting is really shaking things up. The 93.7 signal is huge for Jodesha; this is their "break in" to the big market. I really am hoping that its a big hit.
One thing I did notice, there are probably a lot of listeners near the northern coast that are/will be disappointed in the lack of country on the radio dial. The old KNBQ 102.9 signal used to reach far up into the Olympic Peninsula (I could hear them on the west side of Jefferson county). KANY had the same characteristics; even before they moved to South Mountain, they could be heard as far north as west Jefferson county at times. I'm unsure of whether or not KLSY has enough power to make that possible or not. I know that there are country listeners up in that area, though.
KLSY was fed via Dial Global ABC Radio or whatever it's called these days. KRQT in Castle Rock runs the same format. KZOK and KDUX were likely cut from the same mold, same imaging and everything. KLSY with an AC format on 93.7 would be really nice as long as the station tried to emulate what 92.5 was doing in the late 90s. I remember when I was relly little I used to like KLSY and KBSG. On a historical note, was KBSG ever on Queen Anne Hill? I remember wanting my parents to change the station when we went up north because KBSG would get annoyingly staticky while KLSY was fine.
Eh.. Dial Global? Maybe Quake will come back with a more local flavour. That would be nice. Although i'm not much for 90's AC, I would much rather listen to that than have another country/CHR radio station, or have a simulcast. Just imagine what would happen if Sinclair moved KOMO to the FM dial exclusively. We would have yet ANOTHER sports station on 1000am.
I don't think Synclaire is quite that dumb. Besides, what sports is there left to run in Seattle? All I could see is KJR picking up all the live and local programming that they, KFNQ, and KIRO run, then give KOMO the NBC Sports network. I would imagine KLSY would sound similar to WSPA, WBEB, WLDB, or KMGL.
That kind of AC would be okay. Anything is better than the trending formats we have in Seattle right now. I would not put it past Sinclair to try to make KOMO exclusively FM and try to put another crap sports network on the AM frequency. I'd rather listening to just about about anything if it didn't mean having to endure another syndicated sports radio show (including EDM or Anime music if needed be).
KBSG was never on Queen Anne. KBSG (originally rock 40 KNBQ) was on a tower along hwy 16 in Tacoma before moving to NE Tacoma and then moving to west Tiger in '87. The 97.3 XMTR has been there ever since.
Sinclair would have to put KOMO-FM on a different frequency to cover the main metro...that is the only way to make that scenario work. In other words, there are to many holes in the FM signal coverage, especially on the eastside.
Hey what tower in Tacoma? Would you be referring to the tower next to the present day KBTC building on 19th street?
That 97.7 signal would be no good, I agree. However, if they were ever to get a full market signal, I would hate to see what they might try with the AM station.

Maybe this will actually mean that the "birds" are soft and we can have "Classy 93.7 KLSY" or "EZ Rock 93.7"? Give me the old 70s ez-listening!

I have not had the opportunities to listen to many radio stunts in the past, but from what I have heard so far, Bill's stunt is pure genius. I can just picture the KANY listeners (who probably have no idea what a "stunt" is) tuning their radio into 93.7 to hear strange bird noises rather than country programming. I'm sure there are many people out there right now who still are trying to figure out what went wrong. Its very cleaver; I have had my radio on 93.7 frequently just to see if anything was going to change!
Perhaps 93.7 will come back as "The Bird" or something?

The old KNBQ tower was along HWY 16 next to the intersection of Center and Pines streets (I can still see the tower in my mind...had a big FM97 KNBQ sign attached to it). Their old studios were down on 11th and Grant Ave in Tacoma's hilltop neighborhood(before becoming KBSG in February '88 and moving to Seattle) .

If you dig around, you'll find out that there was a 'K-Bird' in the Seattle-Tacoma market. Maybe Bill wants to resurrect it, (very unlikely) but I bet that the Skip Morrow Foundation would not allow it being they have the KBRD calls and branding now.
As to these kind of stunts, this was done a lot back in the 80's and 90's...to bad not to many broadcasters do this anymore. (Anyone remember the KXRX to KYCW stunt with that annoying computer countdown, count up, and then countdown again?)

Whether it was a return to the X or a station like it, that would be fine in my book.
Hmmmm I don't recall seeing that old tower, and I drive by that area every day. Is it still standing? I guess this was before my time. When I was a kid, KBTC 91.7 used to be a good radio station for classic rock. I always thought that the signal was emitted from that tower next to the KBTC studio. However, I guess it actually was coming from the browns point tower.
