KANY move in

Thanks for clearing that up! I take it 107.3 Ocean Shores has been abolished. According to radio locator, KANY has a translator in Hoqiuam on 102.5... That must be some sort of mistake. I don't know why KJET needs to be on 93.1 in Montesano. The 105.7 signal seems like it would be fine, and I don't think that many people would think to look for the signal down in the 93's anyway.
KJET has a translator at Montesano because there are some signal challenge in that area. We identify 24 times a day, 365 days a year, as "Ninety-three-one and One-oh-five-seven The Jet"

I TI think I can answer the question about KSWW. They were licensed to Elma before KANY signed on. When KANY signed on, I believe that would have made them the only local service to Ocean Shores. When they moved, a station had to move into Ocean Shores to cover that area. Yes KCMS has a translator, 92.1 down there. Has anyone ever picked it up? I've never picked up either of their translators.

Well, you're close. KSWW 102.1 (original call letters KAPV) was licensed to Elma. KAYO 99.3 was licensed to Aberdeen, changed to Elma. KSWW relicensed to Montesano. The rest is okay. With KANY moving east, City of License swapped with KSWW. KANY is licensed to Montesano, and KSWW is licensed to Ocean Shores.

KCMS does not own that translator. It belongs to Grays Harbor Christian Broadcasting, Inc. (the translator is outside the KCMS contour) Grays Harbor Christian Broadcasting also operates another translator on 106.9. That was previously on 107.1 but moved due to the KLSY move-in.

Yeah! I love it! "Big Bird and Snuffleupagus", weekdays 3-7 on "The K-Bird"...

Mornings 5:30 to 10:00 Daffy & Donald Duck
Middays 10:00-3:00 Woody Woodpecker
Afternoons 3:00-7:00 Big Bird
Evenings 7:00 - Midnight Ryan Gosling...

After all of these changes take place, will people in Raymond and South Bend still have a clear, multipath free source of Classic Rock? It looks like KGHO will occupy 107.9 at Ocean Shores. Boss Bill? Thanks.

Don't give 93.7 any ideas now! Don't want them playing 24 hours of Kokomo before the launch of their new format. The ocean/birds stunt is actually better than that those stunts 95.7 played, when they did the heartbeat sound for days before they became "The Beat", and also "Quick 96" before they went back to being KJR.

"Ah! Love those birds!"

93.7 still has dead air as of 10:55am here on a Saturday morning, but still runs the Bigfoot Country promo for 107.3 there in Aberdeen, as well as the station ID at the top of the hour. I think the bird/ocean track ran out...

OK, the bird/ocean sounds are back on... Wonder if someone saw the last post and went to go fix it? :-D Anyhow, Bill, any hints on what 93.7's new format will be? Hopefully something unique that's not the dial here in the Puget Sound area?

Would be nice if it were Triple A. I still miss the Mountain, and an independent owner could do well with that format.

Its 7:20 on 11 May 2014, and 93.7 is still running their bird/ocean noises with 107.3 promos. I thought I would just add that as an update as it seems 93.7 has not been consistent with their tracking.

Here is something that I am curious about: What is the realistic coverage for that 93.7 signal? Considering that I have not had the opportunity to drive around the coastal region with 93.7 on the radio since they moved to South Mountain, I am wondering what the coverage is like. Can they easily be heard all of the way down into pacific country (Long Beach) and up north along the coastline?

Radio Locator seems to indicate that it MAY be possible to pick up 93.7 as far North and West as Forks, but I doubt the validity of the provided map.

Also, you guys should really take a look at the KANY Facebook page before they change it to adopt "107.3". They have a strange cover picture posted of various registered web domains, and a logo for 107.3. VERY odd...

Well, since 93.7 is a Class C0 running 33 kw from 3,100 ft on South Mountain, 46 miles west of Seattle, and 107.3 is a Class A running 4.1 kw from south of Aberdeen, it is not a surprise that someone near Seattle accidentally finding Bigfoot on 93.7 would have a problem hearing it on 107.3. On the other hand, we never promoted the Bigfoot format in the Seattle-Tacoma market, there was never any reference to the market outside Grays Harbor on the station. We did promote to the Grays Harbor listeners the move to 107.3. The Bigfoot format was always intended for Grays Harbor. It was merely an accident of timing that it continued on 93.7 after the move to South Mountain.

I'm frankly surprised that someone near Seattle would enjoy listening to our Grays Harbor-oriented news, weather, commercials.
