Well I just heard the official news. I have to say, this is a major disappointment. The Seattle AM dial already contains a plethora of Spanish language programming for anyone who is interested. Not to mention, KDDS 99.3 serves as as a power house Spanish leader.
I'm curious to hear from other Radio Discussions members on this topic. I don't have confidence in this format.
Thank you for deciding that the Hispanic audience is already well-served. I'm sure you're qualified to make that observation for them.
The Seattle dial contains a plethora of most every commercially-viable format as it is. I don't know what it was you were hoping for, but the economic realities of this business don't leave a lot of options that aren't already oversaturating. This company has done very well in the cities they presently serve. They aren't beginners, and this is a great opportunity for them and their listeners.
You might be interested to know that the vast majority of their programming is produced in their own studios, located across the state and in Oregon. Though possibly not what you might have preferred, this is an excellent example of locally-produced radio.
